What was truly evident from the demo was beyond the new 3D engine and the changing gameplay model. It was apparent that the developers at Firefly are truly fascinated by their medieval and architectural subject matter: they were just as much fans of fortresses and medieval history as one of their customers would be. For that reason alone I have high hopes for Stronghold 2. Additionally, at the core of Firefly’s efforts is the intention of drawing in new Stronghold players as well. The studio is treading that age-old line of keeping the fans it already has while inviting newcomers into their medieval toy chest for a try. Here’s to seeing their efforts pay off this coming April.
