Square Enix removes Denuvo from Life is Strange - briefly
(hx) 03:57 PM EDT - Oct,20 2017 - Post a comment / read (1)
Now here is a pleasant surprise. The second episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm has just been released on Steam. And from the looks of it, Square Enix has removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Square Enix has used Denuvo in pretty much all of its latest titles, and this is perhaps the only one for which Denuvo has been removed. Some of Square Enix’s games that use the Denuvo anti-tamper tech are: Just Cause 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider and NieR Automata. As said, this is the only game for which Square Enix removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech.

I think the reason devs consistently remove Denuvo post crack, is that the denuvo protection has to be reapplied to the exe file with each patch, which costs time and money. So might as well remove it after a certain point, since it wasn't going to stop anyone determined to pirate it anyways.

I think they get a refund from Denuvo.
Although Denuvo is useless these days - can't even protect a title for a whole day anymore - so I am sure why it is still being added...
Maybe because contracts were signed earlier...
And when it's cracked, software houses go for the removal and refund.
