Sony Reportedly Shuts Down Overdrive PS5 Game Store - briefly

Sony Interactive Entertainment has reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter to the creator of Overdrive, a homebrew app that turned jailbroken PS5 consoles into an unofficial store with free downloads of more than 1,600 PS4 and PS5 games. The original GitHub repository was taken down and the creator stopped providing support.

Overdrive only worked on already jailbroken systems running firmware up to 13.60 and used tools like ShadowMountPlus to install the downloaded games. The project gained attention after the Relapse jailbreak went public in late September. Multiple forks and new repositories with updated versions appeared within hours of the reported shutdown. Sony has not publicly confirmed sending the letter or taking formal legal action.
