Graphically, Savage Skies compares favorably to the Starfighter games. The terrain seems slightly less detailed, but the levels are often quite large, and include the aforementioned windswept desert, complete with the blanched bones of giant beasts, as well as the obligatory black castle in a volcanic wasteland, an icy mountain range filled with winding passageways and underground caverns, and many others. The final framerate is unlikely to approach the holy grail of 60 FPS, but the creature models, much more heavily textured and articulated than even the fanciest starship, look splendid.
