There are two main components in Savage's gameplay: the real-time strategy commander mode and the third-person action mode. The developer makes the analogy that the game is like a combination between Warcraft 3 and Quake III. While I definitely see the similarities with the former, the action mode is more similar to third-person fantasy games like Drakan. The gameplay of each mode is pretty standard fare, but what makes it unique is the way that it is integrated online. Instead of controlling automatons, players in commander mode will be doling out commands to real people that must execute them in action mode. It's a great concept that brings together fans of two very different genres. Commander mode is like your typical RTS with resource management, technology trees, structure building, and all that good stuff. However, since an action element is integrated and commands are given to real people, players have more immediate control over each unit. The Warcraft comparisons stem from the games two races: human and beast. At this time they are virtually identical to each other, with only cosmetic differences. The developers will most likely integrate unique weapons and technology further down the line.
