  • Battle for Middle Earth II Multiplayer Preview - VE3D has published the promised hands-on preview of the multiplayer portion of EA's Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II. Included, are 32 new screenshots. In related news, both 3DGamers and FilePlanet now offer the promised open public beta for the game, though it's for subscribers only.
  • Star Wars Empire at War preview - PC.IGN preview of LucasArts' Star Wars Empire at War which should be hitting stores pretty soon.
  • The Sims 2: Open for Business preview - GameDaily has an in-depth preview of The Sims 2: Open for Business. The expansion is scheduled for a February 28th release.
  • ÜberSoldier preview - GameSlave, GameSpot, and IGN have posted their previews of ÜberSoldier (a.k.a. East Front), the upcoming WWII supernatural first-person shooter for the PC. The game should be available in March 2006. There's also a new movie trailer.
  • Mass Effect preview (Xbox 360) - SciFi.com has a short preview of BioWare's Mass Effect for the Xbox 360, seemingly based on comments from BioWare's Casey Hudson.
  • Mage Knight Apocalypse diary #1 - RPGVault has Mage Knight Apocalypse diary #1 penned by  Chris Wren, senior producer on Namco's upcoming action/RPG
  • Commandos: Strike Force clip - Eidos Interactive has relased a new clip (3.1MB) from Commandos: Strike Force, showing off some sniping from the upcoming action installment in the Commandoes series.
  • Splinter Cell: Double Agent movie - Ubi Soft sends along a new movie trailer (49.62MB) for Splinter Cell: Double Agent, revealing more of the stealthy 3D action sequel in development at their Montreal studio. Don't get excited though, Double Agent, will be delayed from March until September of this year.
  • Heroes Of Might And Magic V Delayed - Gamespot reports that Ubisoft has delayed the release of Heroes of Might & Magic V. An new release date for the game is expected next week.
  • TimeShift demo coming Monday - The single-player demo will feature one full level of the retail version of the game. In it, players will infiltrate a heavily guarded building in order to make contact with a rebel on the top floor.  TimeShift is rated M for Mature and will retail for $49.99 when it is released on March 21. An Xbox version will also be released that day, with an Xbox 360 version coming sometime after.
  • Dragon Quest Yagnus Playstation 2 Dated - According to GameSpot, the new Dragon Quest spinoff, Dragon Quest Yagnus has a date in Japan. The game will be available in April 20th to Japanese gamers.
  • Star Wars: Battlefront II Expansion On Jan. 31 (Xbox) - As promised back in December, LucasArts will release a new mini-expansion pack for the Xbox version of Star Wars: Battlefront Ion Jan. 31 The expansion costs $4.99 to download through Xbox Live and contains two new playable characters and four new maps.
  • Xbox 360 to be Fixed Monday - Microsoft is currently finishing off one huge update for the Xbox 360 that is going to put an end to all the common problems in both games and the system itself. It will contain fixes for all currently known lockups in games, missing or impossible to get achievements and a bunch of new functionality in the Dashboard. HardOCP received confirmation from Microsoft that the Xboxic information was indeed accurate and that an update was “imminent”.  There will also be a Call Of Duty 2 update hitting the following day, so next week should be a good one for Xbox 360 owners.
  • Epic Looks For New Lead Engine Programmer - Epic Games' PR folks sent over a press release announcing that they are looking to fill a new position at the company of Lead Engine Programmer.
  • Microsoft suffers losses as Xbox shortages continue - Microsoft has posted its revenue results for its second quarter ended 31st December, revealing a loss of USD 293 million from the division which manages its next-generation Xbox 360 console.
  • Take Two stocks fall - Take Two Interactive's stock price fell a whopping 14 percent yesterday after the Banc of America cut its rating on the publisher from "neutral" to "sell".
  • Is Blizzard Anti-Gay? - It seems that Blizzard, however inadvertantly, is discriminating (thanks EvilAvatar) against the gay/lesbian community in WoW: Sara Andrews thought it was a big misunderstanding when she received an e-mail from a game master in Blizzard Entertainment's popular online role playing game "World of Warcraft" citing her for "Harassment - Sexual Orientation."

People's real world sexual orientation really has no bearing on the game and should be kept out. I think Blizzard did the right thing, the majority won't have a problem with it but a miniority on both sides will see it as an excuse to cause trouble and thats not what the majority pay $10 a month to see.

If we put the sensitive gay issue to one side. If I started a "I love them big titty women" group I'm sure it would receive similar attention. In fact in this case I believe Blizzard only gave a warning rather than the required suspension because it realised there was no malice intended.

Well, i kinda do understand their(GLBT) situation. And their search for friendly(OK, I dont give damn etc.) GLBT people. As there is a shit load of moron,s out there. Its toooooo often that you encounter some1,s rage. When it seems more of an frustration, hopelessness, disaccustom and fear cause. And as an effect these "moron,s" use words like "gay, faggot etc." in an denigratory way.

You raise a good point but then I guess the same policy would apply to those idiots too and I doubt Blizzard would be so lenient. I guess when people are talking and working together some personal details will come out. But still, advertising something that makes you a minority is always going to bigots going.
