Saturday Reading - Ballmer vowed to 'kill' Google - briefly
(hx) 11:19 PM CEST - Sep,03 2005 - Post a comment / read (3)
I just watched SAW. I think this is the best horror movie of 2004, I mean it is way too original and believable, I mean you can't find this in every horror movie that is released, but this movie proofs that all that you need for making a good movie is not much money, you need a good story and a good development, not some shitty cgi effects that the only thing that can make is just ruin a movie. Saw is a great example of what horror movies should be!  I love the ending. "The key was in the bathtub." That'll make you think next time you wake up in a room inside of a tub. Do not panic and get out. Look for the key while you drown. LOL. Now I can't wait for SAW 2!

Here's some stuff:
  • Ballmer Throws A Chair At "F*ing Google" - A reliable source has passed along a legal document in the ongoing lawsuit between Google and Microsoft over Google's hiring of Kai-Fu Lee. The document is the "Declaration of Mark Lucovsky" in the case. Lucovsky was a distinguished engineer at Microsoft who defected to Google in November of 2004. His statement makes for some pretty interesting reading, to say the least.
  • SIGGRAPH 2005 Videos - Integrated slides and video of NVIDIA's SIGGRAPH 2005 Exhibitor Tech Talks are now available on its site. For each talk, slides are provided in PDF format along with a brief description. Topics covered include: GPU Rendering Analysis and Performance Tools and Visual Effects Techniques. • Korean Yujin Robotics Offers iRobi, iClebo Q and Transbot Robots - Korean company Yujin Robotics has announced several robots by now, trying to catch-up with Japanese and American robot competition.  The iRobi is cute house and kid sitter robot. It can be remotely controlled via the web and has a surveillance camera. The Yujin Robotics iClebo Q is a vacuum robot comparable to the iRobot Roomba (see photo below). AVing has several hi-res photos of the iClebo Q. They chose of all available colors the candy pink model. The iClebo brushes and vacuums. A 2 hour charge gives 150 minutes of cleaning.
  • T-Mobile USA Launches EDGE, Finally - T-Mobile USA has finally launched EDGE services (that’s the super-speedy upgrade to GPRS) across 90% of its GPRS-enabled network, and is currently not charging anything extra for it.
  • 4G prototypes reach blistering speeds - In experiments, prototype phones were used to view 32 high definition video streams, while travelling in an automobile at 20 kilometres per hour. Officials from NTT DoCoMo say the phones could receive data at 100 megabits per second on the move and at up to a gigabit per second while static.
  • Apple is Accused of Violating Software Patent - Creative Technology, a maker of portable music players, has accused Apple Computer of violating a newly granted software patent covering the way users navigate music selections.
  • Sonic 'Lasers' Head to Flood Zone - Wired News is running an article about high powered acoustic technology to be deployed in the hurricane Katrina disaster recovery. The device uses magnets approximately 6 inches tall and 9.25 inches wide to convert electrical pulses into sound waves, and is capable of aiming sound precisely for thousands of feet -- like the sonic equivalent of a laser, or spotlight.
