Romero Says Modders Are 'Screwing Up Industry' -
Apparently John Romero, who thinks everyone still cares what
he has to say, has comdemned the modding community for the Oblivion re-rating scandal
. He says that modders are 'Screwing up the industry," and that with incidents like Bethesda's nude patch and Rockstar's infamous Hot Coffee mod the industry has suffered so bad it may never recover. Ed. note: OMG Romero wake up! Modders are not destroying anything. American views on sexuality and graphic content are the problem, not Modders!!!

@editor, re Romero and mods. No editor, Romero is right. It extends well beyond GTA, Sims and Oblivion etc. Gaming industry at least on PC has been going down the tubes for a long time and it is modders who are F'ing it up. Modding like how it really started in HL1 was genuine, now you got every sick bastard out there defacing games and putting in nudity everywhere or changing the overal dynamics of game. Sure it's the gamer who downloads them.. but it's also the downloader and player that passes on these dumb mods onto others. Do we really need to see Alyx in HL2 nude? Come on.. Personally I rather see Lara Croft nude.. There are a lot of sexually deprived people out there that really should look to porn sites rather than mod their game. I don't personally think John Romero has ever been wrong, he's just been the whipping dog for pointing it out in a more global way. We aren't talking Warren Spector here(lets see if the community even cares about me type publicity) either. John didn't say it for personal gain, he said it because he is John Romero. It's too bad other gamers just don't see the light. At one time mods used to be free now every selfish prick is charging money when they got the tools for free and everything. Makes me sick and I vow to never buy any mod that's sold and not free. It defeats the whole purpose of modding. Modders can blow me before I fork out 1 coin for a mod in which they had access to or got a SDK for free. It's like I said, what's next people charge for maps? Gimme a break. If ur modding and asking for money, then you already have lost the point of mods. And if it's a lot of work to do a mod and you feel justified to charge, then go F yourself, it was "you" that was driven to do a mod, nobody held a gun to your head.
