• Ageia's PhysX benchmarked - Surprisingly, the numbers show a frame rate that's actually lower with PhysX acceleration enabled than without! Yup, shocking, to think that the version with more graphical stuff going on should be slower :P
• ATI Radeon X1800 GTO vs Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT - Performance-wise the GTO has the edge. It won all of the game benchmarks except for F.E.A.R. and it also came first in 3DMark 05.

• HD DVD vs. Blu-ray - While CDs, DVDs, and HD DVDs all have 0.6mm of protective plastic above and below the actual data layer, there is a mere 0.1mm of plastic under the data layer of a Blu-Ray disc.

• Sony begins shipping 25GB Blu-ray discs - The BD-R (write-once) 25GB and BD-RE (rewritable) 25GB recording media have suggested retail prices of $20 and $25, respectively. The soon to come BD-R 50GB and BD-RE 50GB recording media will have suggested retail prices of $48 and $60, respectively.

• Commercial skipping to cost $8 billion in TV ads this year? - JupiterResearch has a recently published report that gets a lot right when it comes to DVR use. They claim that 53 percent of DVR subscribers use their DVRs to skip commercials.
• John Carmack Among Folks Going After New X-Prize - id Software co-founder and master programmer John Carmack also runs Armadillo Aerospace who tried but failed to win the first X-Prize for launching the first privately funded and built space vehicle. Now The X-Prize Foundation and the US space agency NASA have officially announced the next X-Prize competition, the Lunar Lander Challenge which will get space rocket makers to create a simulated lunar lander. The top prize for this competition will be $1.25 million.
• EveR-1 Female Android Robot - The eveR-1 (you know, Eve and Robot...) is 160cm tall and weighs 50kg. eveR-1 understands 400 words, make eye contact, move lips while talking and make facial expressions.

GAMING... 

• Fury Announced - Fury is the ultimate competitive online RPG. It takes the best elements of an MMO - combat, advancement and teamwork - and blends them with the best elements of an FPS - instant action, fast pacing and diverse game types. The official website offers details & screenshots. The game will be demoed at E3 2006 next week.
• USAF Pilot Training: Road to the ThunderBirds Announced - The iEntertainment Network announced USAF Pilot Training: Road to the ThunderBirds, an upcoming United States Air Force licensed flight simulation.
• Warbirds 2006 announced - iEntertainment Network announced Warbirds 2006, the updated version of their World War II MMO flight sim,
• Spore Preview - 1UP has posted a preview of Will Wright's forthcoming universe simulator Spore. "The scariest thing about Spore is that even though it took the first third or so of this article just to recap what we already knew about the game, it's all the details that won't be uncovered until the game ships and people start doing crazy stuff with it that will truly make Spore shine"
• Bioshock: Pre-E3 Interview - PC.IGN has spoken to Irrational's Ken Levine about Bioshock. The trailer (which doesn't make clear if the footage is pre-rendered or in-game) reveals that the developer is Treyarch (who developed the last Call of Duty console game Big Red One) and as I reported Thurday will only be coming to next-gen conoles, bypassing the PC platform.
• Prey Dev Diary #17 - 3D Realms has posted a new Prey Dev Diary update over at the official website. This installment features Human Head's Jason L Blair who speaks about various Prey related topics include E3, beta testing and the game's story.
• The Witcher: Interview - CD Projekt joint CEO Michal Kicinski has been interviewed at Next Generation about The Witcher.
• Call Of Duty 3 Playstation 3 Trailer - Activision has released the first trailer from the recently announced Call Of Duty 3. Most of the trailer shows real time footage from all the previous CoD games, and at the end there is a short bit of footage from Call Of Duty 3.
• Extended Brothers In Arms Hell's Highway Trailer - IGN has an extended version, featuring an all-new scene to sink your teeth into.
• Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter Launch Trailer - The Ghost Recon website offers the official launch trailer for the PC edition of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, the latest installment in the Tom Clancy special forces game. This clip once again demonstrates the game's premise and features in a minute and a half of mostly action-packed gameplay footage.
• The Da Vinci Code E3 movie - 2K Games sends along the E3 movie trailer for The Da Vinci Code, revealing more of the upcoming third-person action adventure by The Collective based on the popular Dan Brown novel.
• War Front: Turning Point movie - CDV has released a new movie trailer for War Front: Turning Point, the alternate-history World War II 3D real-time strategy game in the works at Digital Reality.
• BASEBALL MOGUL 2007 demo - Enlight Interactive announced that a brand new demo for Baseball Mogul 2007 is available for download.
• Take Command: 2nd Manassas Free Bonus Content -  Paradox Interactive informed us that extra content for Take Command: 2nd Manassas is now available through the start menu of the retail and download version of the game. Players will be able to enjoy two extra scenarios at the click of a button.
• Steam News Update  - It looks like the Episode 1 isn't quite finished yet!! "Right now, we're in the midst of those very busy days we alluded to a few weeks ago. The preload for Episode One started Monday. The team is working day and night, putting the finishing touches on our first Episodic release. And we'll be adding more content to what is being preloaded next week to insure that everyone has everything they need to play come June 1st."  In other news, Valve has also updated the Steam client
• Romero Says Modders Are 'Screwing Up Industry' - Apparently John Romero, who thinks everyone still cares what he has to say, has comdemned the modding community for the Oblivion re-rating scandal. He says that modders are 'Screwing up the industry," and that with incidents like Bethesda's nude patch and Rockstar's infamous Hot Coffee mod the industry has suffered so bad it may never recover. Ed. note: OMG Romero wake up! Modders are not destroying anything. American views on sexuality and graphic content are the problem, not Modders!!!
• The Outfit To Get New Maps (Xbox 360) - THQ has revealed that new maps for the military shooter The Outfit are being prepared. Later this month is supposedly when these maps will start appearing. The price? Somewhere around 500 MS points, or $5 USD.
