HomeLAN has posted its impresssions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, especially the multiplayer build shown at E3 last week of the upcoming GSC Game World-THQ tactical shooter. Here is a taster:

The multiplayer mode shown at E3 was basic deathmatch so there is nothing (yet) that is terribly spectacular we can report about. What we can talk about is the game engine that S.T.A.L.K.E.R is using which is certainly on a par with the best shooters we saw at the show. The game's outdoor enviroments look increably realistic with detailed tress, grass, and charater models. We also saw that multiplayer mode will use both the game's day/night cycle as well as weather effects which is something that you really don't see in other multiplayer titles.

While we didn't get to see an actual live build of the game's single player mode at E3 we did get a closed doors presentation and trailer on some of those elements. For one, we learned more about the mutated creatures that you will have to deal with in the Chernobyl radiation zone in the near future, from a creature called a bloodsucker that can turn invisible for brief periods of time to a mutant dog that can hurt you wit psionic blasts. We also saw in the trailer a creature named a "pseudogiant", a huge and tough creature with only small arms to attack with but they can still be deadly at close range.
