Currently if you want to play an Xbox 360 title on your PC, you have to purchase the PC version or go through illegal channels. According to Insideris, Microsoft is working on providing Xbox 360 support to its upcoming OS, Windows 8. Unfortunately, the system won’t support cross-platform play between the platforms, but Xbox Live for PC would still utilize a subscription fee. This is very much in the realm of rumor right now, although interestingly, Engadget also dug up some Windows 8 source code that references an 'Xbox _360_System_Crash'. If implemented, the move would make sense for Microsoft, who’s trying to provide a unified ecosystem like OS rival Apple. The company has already merged The Games for Windows Marketplace into Xbox.com, and Windows 8 is meant to be run on a wide variety of platforms including tablets. Can Microsoft turn its puzzle pieces into a unified picture?
