Rumor: Xbox 360 Games Playable on Win 8 - briefly
(hx) 10:36 AM CEST - Jul,14 2011 - Post a comment / read (9)
IndustryGamers has posted a news article on a rumor that Microsoft is working on Xbox 360 support for Windows 8.
Currently if you want to play an Xbox 360 title on your PC, you have to purchase the PC version or go through illegal channels. According to Insideris, Microsoft is working on providing Xbox 360 support to its upcoming OS, Windows 8. Unfortunately, the system won’t support cross-platform play between the platforms, but Xbox Live for PC would still utilize a subscription fee.

This is very much in the realm of rumor right now, although interestingly, Engadget also dug up some Windows 8 source code that references an 'Xbox _360_System_Crash'.

If implemented, the move would make sense for Microsoft, who’s trying to provide a unified ecosystem like OS rival Apple. The company has already merged The Games for Windows Marketplace into Xbox.com, and Windows 8 is meant to be run on a wide variety of platforms including tablets. Can Microsoft turn its puzzle pieces into a unified picture?

I guess the reason they did not do this for Windows 7 is that they can sell their next generation of WinDOS to at least the XBOX users...

Actualy, it looks more like they are blending PC with XBox -as has always been M$ case. Don't know why they bothered continuing with PC, since billy boy, buys exclusive for his xbox and stuffs the PC market -in most cases.

Right. What I mean is the timing.
After XP, people did not want Vista.
After Vista, people did not want Windows 7.
After Windows 7, people would probably not want Windows 8.
MS had to throw in something every time they wanted to sell their rubbish. They could easily add it to Windows 7 you know...

This will do nothing but make gaming on the PC even worse than it already is.

Tom> This will do nothing but make gaming on the PC even worse than it already is.True! Blending the fuckin consoles with the PC will make games even worse....

I do not think it's about blending.
I think it's about dropping support for the XBOX.

Looking at how shit Win8 is currently shaping into a new form of barely improved poo, adding xblock 360 support would be like the directx10/11 crap they pulled on XP..

Only now they get something new to use to entice the PC suckers into a live cloud subscription scrap heap of DRM, screw u nicely emarkets and Microshitting insidious spyware crap that just out there 'protecting you' for the legal fascist policy scum, that you will love because well it all sounds so good being 'connected' and into microscum networks and whatever other garbage they'll try shove through.

I can't help but agree with this. This seems like a loophole they can use to shorten support lifespan for older platforms by offering PC support instead. This isn't to say that support will really exist on the PC but the point is they offer that option.

Singularity - PC, PS3, Xbox 360 - Raven have stated that Singularity's main gameplay mechanism is a device, known in the game as the TMD (Time Manipulation Device). The TMD has the ability to move a single object through time, both into the future, and into the past. It can also freeze an object in time, and has an 'Impulse' function, which can be used as a weapon once upgraded. The TMD is multifunctional, as it can be used as a powerful weapon, but also as a tool in puzzle solving scenarios. The device's use as a weapon is unconventional when compared to the weapons in other games. For instance, using the TMD's "rewind" function on a human opponent will send them into a "placental" state where they revert to an almost amoebic state, before slowly dying. The device is essential for solving puzzles, such as sending a lock forward in time, causing it to rust it in real time, or sending a broken bridge backwards in time until it returns to a usable state. Sending a tree trunk forwards in time while standing on it will cause it grow very quickly, allowing the player to reach higher areas. (696 hits)
