The game's primary single player snare, as mentioned before, is called Conquer The World and is set up a little like the classic board game Risk at first as you at first have one nation and army under your control. Using the Risk-like world-map you begin your move to power by selecting which countries you wish to conquer and then you plan scenarios each turn based on what you pick with a variety of different objectives. As the game moves along you can even collect "bonus cards" that can influence future battles. It's a rather unique way of handling the single player campaign of an RTS title rather than a straight story-based approach but one that's easy to pick up and enjoy on its own. Of course, you can simply simulate a straight-up multiplayer battle through Rise of Nations' skirmish mode as well.
