In terms of the game's looks, our preview build of Rise of Nations is on a par with the engine in Ensemble's upcoming RTS title Age of Mythology, with some details unit artwork and animations for each of the game's nations along with the 3D maps, buildings and other effects. One thing that we thought was odd was that we couldn't zoom in as tight into the game with the mouse wheel as we have done with other 3D RTS titles, which made us feel somewhat detached from the battles in the game. Hopefully we will be able to get closer to the battles in the final game as well as being able to really see the units up close and personal. The game's user interface and controls are also familiar from other RTS games and should be easy to use and understand for both veteran and new RTS players.
