Each of the maps available in the beta has it's own distinct flow and play style, and they seem to give a good representation of the main types of maps likely to be present in the final release. Even the smallest one, StalingradKessel, has a good number of routes for the teams to take. Sappers can even demolish certain doors and walls to give their team further avenues of approach. One particularly nice touch is that spawns are protected by minefields and other barriers, thus preventing the most annoying types of spawncamps. Cover and concealment in the maps is excellent. There are all kinds of terrain irregularities - ditches, shell holes, rubble, etc - to use to conceal your movement, your firing position, or shelter you from enemy rounds. All in all, the Ost beta maps are all extremely well-made and tons of fun to play, and if the rest of the game's maps are similar, we'll be in for quite the treat.
Ostfront boasts a nice variety of tanks and armored vehicles for those of you that fancy yourselves to be tankers or halftrack-ers. The vehicles are extremely well-modeled both internally and externally, and the damage model is likewise robust in that projectile ballistics are used to determine whether or not a round impacting at a given angle would penetrate, and if so, whether or not it'd kill the tank.
Most vehicles allow you to have several views, controlled by mousewheel scrolling. The first is typically your "default" view, nothing special. From there you can unbutton (open the hatch and look out) to give yourself a wider field of view yet expose yourself to enemy fire, or you can move closer to the armored viewport and get a bit more FOV without having to open the hatch. Tank commanders can also use binoculars when unbuttoned.
