In its simplest terms, Rag Doll Kung Fu is a fighting game but the similarities between this game and titles like Soul Calibur or Dead or Alive are minimal. The first thing that comes up on the screen is a grainly live action movie, made as an obviously homage to all those old Asian kung fu movies. You then get into the game itself which not only has a single player tutorial and campaign but also a full LAN/Internet multiplayer mode. The biggest thing you notice off the bat is that the game is entirely mouse driven; you don't use your keyboard at all. It's a little hard to get used to but thanks to the tutorial we got up to speed with this unusual control scheme pretty quickly. Controlling your fighter (which you can customise its look with a variety of options) with the mouse is much like controlling a string puppet. You move your mouse cursor on the screen and by clicking on your left mouse button you control your limbs to move across the map. Charging your body for attacks is done but moving your mouse in a circular motion. You then click and hold onto the right mouse button where an icon appears with arrows that you can point to your intended target. You attack by releasing the right mouse button. You can also pick up and use weapons like nunchucks, throwing stars and some truly silly looking weapons that we won't spoil here. You can also jump to great heights by moving your mouse cursor. It's actually harder to write about than it is to do. Healey's design makes it very easy to figure out but hard to master. Because you control the movements of your limbs there are no pre-created combos or animations; you create your own fighting style.
