Radeon X800 vs. GeForce 6800 - tech
(hx) 10:59 AM CEST - May,11 2004 - Post a comment / read (19)
The chaps over at Nordic Hardware have posted an extensive test comparing two upcoming giants - Radeon X800 and. GeForce 6800. Here is an excerpt:
Radeon X800 XT and GeForce 6800 Ultra are pretty equal, but XT takes the lead when we activate 8xAF and use a high resolution. There are no big differences though. X800 Pro is right after the giants but its performance is quite acceptable. If we look at the results in 1600x1200 we can see that both 6800 Ultra and X800 XT are more than twice as fast as the Radeon 9800 XT. Quite impressive.

Again I wasted my time reading another BS biased review that proclaims ATI as king. Reality Check -- When you're running games at 1600x1200 and higher, YOU DON'T NEED TO USE AA!!!!!! That's just stupidity. So nVidia wins again.

JKposted - May, 11 2004 - 15:42
Well, you can't sat Nvidia wins again. They both have their good and bad points. For example, i like to play X-Wing Alliance and Freespace 2, but the Geforce Cards, from the Geforce4 generation, have had terrible text bleeding. The Freespace 2 problem can be fixed with a little reg tweak, but the XWA is not fixed by it. The ATI cards don't have this problem, so in my opinion, the ATI cards are better. ATI Cards are more cooler (tempreture wise) Nvidia Cards are too hot. When i had a Geforce card in my machine, it overheated like crazy, but when i put a ATI Card in (ATI 9800Pro 128MB) it is cool...never have a tempreture problem now.

Nvidia has bigger freaks than ATI. LoL I mean its like they already know Nvidia is crap. Just look at NV3x cores they are slow in shader games like Splinter Cell, etc.

jinxposted - May, 11 2004 - 17:14
Holy crap, why can't people just let the whole video card wars crap go? It's so stupid.

FX5900posted - May, 11 2004 - 17:20
you guys are going up against John Becker in an argument?!?!?! You ATI guys are nuts! rofl

El_Coyoteposted - May, 11 2004 - 17:44
#1 What was biased about it? the fact that they used benchmarks and settings where nvivia is inferior? according to you the only benches would propably be Q3 and COD

hahaposted - May, 11 2004 - 19:35
John becker is stupid, just because it is 1600*1200 and ati beat nvidia with aa it doesnt mean it is not necessary. All that tells us is that he is a bias nvidia fan.

funnyposted - May, 11 2004 - 19:44
Yea aa is not needed because nvidia is too slow with it haha, nice logic there. It is like my car would run better with this special fuel but the other dude's car runs better than mine with this special fuel and I beat him by a little with the normal fuel so everyone should bench us on the normal fuel haha.

when it comes down to it, nvidia wins in drivers. ATI can't compete in this area. they tried month to month driver releases; didn't work. they lied about performance increases and stability. u'd be hard pressed to find genuine problems with nvidia. nvidia is and always will be the most solid card. why buy a ati card? they really have only been able to compete over the the last year or so meanwhile nvidia has been into gaming since the start and killed of 3dfx, gone into console gaming and left that and now ati figures they can get into console and set a name for themselves. if there's ever been a time anyone can say ATI is a wannabe company, now is the time. as i always said, a real gamer will get nvidia long before they go ATI. why go with a n00b gaming card when you can go with a solid, been around forever company. remember those non-radeon all-in-wonder cards? lmao. or how about 3d pro turbo!!woooo! p.s. anyone using AA @ 1600x1200 is a retard. wtf kind of reviewer would test AA at 1600x.. duh.

= farcry g0d =posted - May, 11 2004 - 20:14
blah blah...competition is good...keeps great products coming, and a nice happy price war after the `omfg` factor. but the ati card is the best bet by far. but i like you nvidiots - give them just enough $ to keep nvidia alive to keep ati aggressive and in fine form. cheers bitches <3

giGGlerposted - May, 11 2004 - 21:49
you technerd loving graphic card whores are so retarded. nvidia or ati, who cares? bring on trident! :)

noneposted - May, 11 2004 - 22:20
I'm still happy with my 9800XT. Not many people run their games in 1600X1200 anyway. Especially while playing online.

atiposted - May, 11 2004 - 23:35
Yea ati yea whoo hoooooo

JKposted - May, 12 2004 - 00:25
Even though i have a ATI 9800 Pro and that can handle the FSAA and Aniso pretty well, i never use them. All i want is the game to run smooth enough to be fun.

Coolposted - May, 12 2004 - 02:19
Wow xxxxx is the biggest nvidia idiot in here, ATI driver problems? wow welcome to 1 year ago. I bet you dont even own an ati. Nvidia was crap few years ago when voodoo was king, now nvidia is the new voodoo and you idiots just can't handle it.

Dr John Beckerposted - May, 12 2004 - 02:36
I am not a biased nVidia fan. I have opinions. I express those opinions. What i cannot stand is stupidity. Coolio was a 1-hit wonder. If not many people play in 1600x1200, then again the facts point to the 6800U winning at lower resolutions! This argument is just stupid. You're all stupid.

Jestposted - May, 12 2004 - 04:00

teh far cry secks g0posted - May, 12 2004 - 04:35

idiotposted - May, 12 2004 - 20:44
Everybody, go buy your superb nvidia 6800 with their superb cheatware drivers, lower IQ, worse performance and bulky size. GO GO GOOO! xxxx, omg, u are sooooo blody blind. Console? Xbox, xbox2 is powered by what card? Should I buy a card, just because it's been present for years? Actually, Ati is the older company. Besides, I buy graphic cards based on performance and quality - nvidia doesn't come to mind. 3dpro turbo? You're just pathetic, talking about 7-yr-old shit. nV TNT ruled? Stupid ass.
