Publishers accused of trying to exploit Kickstarter

Are publishers trying to use brand-name developers as fronts for crowd funding? Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart
claims
that his company has previously been approached by publishers wishing to use them as a front to develop games on Kickstarter. In other words trying to secretly manipulate unaware customers into funding a publisher's game for them, and the publisher would then keep the majority of the profits and the IP rights. Obviously Obsidian rejected those pitches and went ahead with their own
Kickstarter for its next big RPG: Project Eternity
. As of this writing the game has raised well over $1.75 million with 27 more days to go. They have also announced that a DRM free version of the game will be made available through GOG.com.
