According to the Inquirer, the RSX chip in the PS3, originally scheduled to run at 550/700 core/memory has been realigned with expectations and the value chain at 500/650:
Looks like the PS3 is way too powerful for us mere humans, and because the value is so overwhelming, Sony is going to make it a little more palatable. The RSX, previously scheduled to run at 550/700 core/memory has been realigned with expectations and the value chain at 500/650. We can't tell you why the GPU lost nearly 10% of it's clock, it could be an NVidia screwup, or it could be Sony/Cell. Either way, it just became much less of an overwhelming value, but you get a DRM infected drive for 'free' either way.

Totally rediculous...What about all of those games that are out now? Doesn't anyone think that this could throw off developers who were striving for 60 fps with awesome graphics? tisk tisk sony.

I still think the PS3 will be sold out everywhere launch day. Regardless of the price, the internet is only a small portion of people who actually buy things. And only even a smaller fraction of those people actually speak up on message boards and such.

But really, the PS3 does offer quite a bit for the price. But I don't plan on getting one, not for a while, I have no desire for consoles, for the most part.

i got all the consoles i need... a psp. and now that i've ordered StreetFighter Alpha 3 max... my life is complete... no need for a ps3 ever :P

Edit: Oh the irony! I read up a bit and it's almost a year on the day that the Inq posted faulty news that the PS3 was downgraded. :P

My head hurts now. :(

It probably isn't real, but its pretty bad if it is.

Oh yeah, and I was just thinking of another example of the internet not being as fullfilling as its users are led to believe.

Snakes on a Plane... Great movie, got pretty decent reviews. Opened up 1st at the box office, second weekend? 9th...Explain how the internet is such a huge force. And it only did 15 mil the first weekend and only like 5 mil the second weekend. Blah. :(
