- Post a comment Prey 2 was revealed several years ago by Human Head and over time vanished into thin air. Now the game has been resurrected, but it won't be the title as it was initially envisioned. Arkane’s Austin studio, the team behind the acclaimed Dishonored, is bringing the series back and in a way no one expected.
Rather than a sequel, Prey is a first-person psychological thriller reboot of the franchise. Taking place in 2032, the reveal trailer introduces everyone to the protagonist, Morgan Yu, who is the subject of a series of morally dubious experiments designed to improve the human race. Interestingly, Morgan’s eyes are completely bloodshot, undoubtedly due to the experiments, though the exact nature of these experiments are currently not known.
After an introductory minute or so of Morgan going through his mornings, the trailer quickly switches to what appears to be Prey‘s primary setting: a space station overrun by a mysterious alien threat. The aliens are not clearly shown in the trailer, but first impressions seem to suggest that they’re a bug-like creature capable of some unknown smokescreen ability.
Combining a mysterious alien invasion narrative with the fast-paced shooting mechanics of DOOM and a series of mind-bending abilities similar to Dishonored, it appears that Prey will offer up a new first-person shooter experience that’s bound to have countless psychological twists and turns.
Prey will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2017.
