While traditional RTSs tend to focus on building structures and gathering resources, this game focuses on troop-based combat. Villages are controlled by constructing a garrison with the lowest level troops. These troops also build watch towers and siege machines such as battering rams, ballistas and catapults. That is the extent of "building." Once a village is garrisoned a Roman Centurion, Egyptian Official or Barbarian Chieftain takes control of the town and begins recruiting troops from the village. A village has only so many people that can be recruited, but slowly gains them back over time, allowing more troops to be built.
