Over two years ago, Sony Online launched
PlanetSide, a massively multiplayer sci-fi FPS.
Gamecloud has conducted an interview with PlanetSide's project manager
Thom Terrazas to find out more about their future plans for the game.
Gamecloud - Can you comment on how many players are currently subscribing
to the game and if those numbers are within Sony Online's expectations?
Thom Terrazas - Not being able to release precise numbers, I can say that PS
has a healthy community of hardcore MMO FPS fans. Tens of thousands of players
are active on each server every night of the week, vying for supremacy.
Gamecloud - A year ago Planetside: Aftershock was released that gave
players access to mech-like vehicles. What has the response been like to those
additions?
Thom Terrazas - Before the Battle Frame Robots (BFR's) were released, the
player base was polled to get their preferences on the next big addition to the
game. Hence the BFR's were created. The players were very pleased with the
Battle Frame Robots (BFRs) when launched and we continue to query our player
base for additions to the game. As we should, they know what the game needs more
than anyone.
