PC Remains Top Platform For Developers! - briefly

According to GDC's 2015 State of the Industry Survey, 56% of survey respondents said their current game will be released on PC: As the latest generation of console hardware matures, a larger percentage of developers are moving to make games for Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One, compared to last year. 26 percent of developers surveyed said they're currently working on a PlayStation 4 game, up from 14 percent last year, while 22 percent said they're currently working on an Xbox One game, up from last year's 12 percent (note that games often are developed across multiple platforms).

But PC and mobile still reign in terms of platform popularity; 56 percent of survey respondents said their current game will be released on PC and 50 percent said their current project will release on smartphones or tablets, as compared to 53 and 52 percent (respectively) a year prior.

Looking ahead, 29 percent of developers surveyed said they expect their next game to be on PlayStation 4, and 24 percent of respondents expected it to be on Xbox One, compared to 20 percent and 17 percent, respectively, of those surveyed last year.

Interest in mobile development slipped slightly, according to the survey; while 53 percent of those polled think their next game will be released on PC, 48 percent expect to release on smartphones or tablets.

Tablets are dying? I don't think so. But if expectations are that people throw away perfect functioning tablets in favor of new ones then maybe. I have no plans to get another tablet until games require it and even then I don't use my tablet to only game. People also don't buy phones just to game. My Galaxy Nexus phone still works great and runs with Lol pop just fine. Why replace it?

Tablet sales dropped because people like me aren't running out to stores to upgrade what doesn't need to be upgraded.

Errmmm.. No really Mr. MarketAnalyst, please tell us all.

"Demand is still growing for inexpensive tablets, notably some models from Samsung, Lenovo, and Asus, used mostly for watching video. "

"Android tablet purchases grew 48 percent for the quarter, and grocery stores and retail chains, including Tesco (TSCO:LN) in the U.K. and Carrefour (CA:FP) in France, are selling their own branded tablets for less than $200."

"Jeff Orr of ABI Research said: “Those that are going to be interested in buying a tablet in the U.S. by this point already have.” Expanding on his theory, it seems plausible that countries who haven’t wholly adopted the smartphone could be potential tablet consumers in the future."

So please Mr. MarketAnalyst, please tell me what the world don't know. Until there is further innovation or a reason for people to shell out more money on a new tablet then tablet sales will not grow a lot but they will still be purchased. Just like video cards for PC. People wont buy them if there is really no benefit to having the latest and greatest. Why spend hundreds of dollars for something that really gives no benefit. Not everyone gets a hardon for 10fps more.

These guys (and all analysts) are getting paid to pull out such statements of their butts. The interesting part is that they get paid even when they were far off with their predictions. I guess the reason for that is this simple: they'd get arrested for gambling. (You see, it's not gambling when you get paid even when you lose.)

I hate those faggots trying to manipulate the market so their friends can make a shitload of money while others die starving.

I made this prediction for free, based on what I hear.
