Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes RTS games will never be as popular on consoles as they are on the PC. And he gave a bizarre answer when asked about the future of real-time strategy games during GameTrailers' show Pach Attack: I have long been baffled as to why RTS games don't work on consoles. I think it is partly because of the nature of the gameplay, it's single-player and it's turn-based.

I play them a lot on my work PC, and I think games like this probably started with slackers like me who play games at work and don't tell their bosses about it.

For some reason, I think they just appeal to the more hardcore PC gamers. I personally play PC games more than any other genre, I just don't like PC gamers that's all.
Aparently he can't figure out the difference between 'Real Time' and 'Turn Based' :-)

RTSs games are to the PC as the JRPGs are to consoles. Also, as the MMORPG, is to frustrating playing them in such a limited controller like the gamepad.

i would not call a game pad limited. game pads have strong points, mouse and keyboard have other strong points.

most sport games and basically every beat em up plays better on a game pads. i cant even remember what was the last beat em up released for pc, vitua fighter or something.
its nice to have 13 or so analog buttons. well it least for the sony pads, got no clue if xbox has digital buttons.

When I say limited I refer to the number of buttons. So, yes, its extremely limited.

@Tuborg Street Figher IV was released for the PC and it was awesomely done as well! :) I agree, that some games, play better with specific controllers.

LOL! what a stupid conversation. I love Renton's analogy. Gamepad has less buttons than a keyboard. Wow! Did you just figure that out?! Some games work better for gamepad and pc with keyboard! Wow another amazing point! Thanks for the pic it really helped me visualize the difference. No really, I wasn't sure there for a little while. :roll:

Singularity - PC, PS3, Xbox 360 - Raven have stated that Singularity's main gameplay mechanism is a device, known in the game as the TMD (Time Manipulation Device). The TMD has the ability to move a single object through time, both into the future, and into the past. It can also freeze an object in time, and has an 'Impulse' function, which can be used as a weapon once upgraded. The TMD is multifunctional, as it can be used as a powerful weapon, but also as a tool in puzzle solving scenarios. The device's use as a weapon is unconventional when compared to the weapons in other games. For instance, using the TMD's "rewind" function on a human opponent will send them into a "placental" state where they revert to an almost amoebic state, before slowly dying. The device is essential for solving puzzles, such as sending a lock forward in time, causing it to rust it in real time, or sending a broken bridge backwards in time until it returns to a usable state. Sending a tree trunk forwards in time while standing on it will cause it grow very quickly, allowing the player to reach higher areas. (700 hits)
