Overlord's key play mechanic is the introduction of an array of impish creatures - the Minions. They believe you are the old Overlord reborn and will use their unique skills to fetch, fight and die for you. Throughout the game players will actively control a horde of these gremlin-like critters. Their loyalty knows no bounds and their bravery borders on stupidity but, with every bone in their odd little bodies, they believe you are the reincarnation of their old master. As such, they'll follow your every instruction no matter how despotic or, for the Minions, life threatening it is. And the thing with minions is that they learn and grow alongside you; getting a bit more evil and powerful all the time. They're opportunists too: if they can rob an opponent of a mighty axe, they will. Then learn, very quickly, how to use it. Similarly, they may steal some armour and wear it for protection. Axes, knives, chef's hats, pitchforks or women's clothing, your minions aren't fussy as long as it gives them the fighting edge
