OMF: Battlegrounds Preview - preview/review
(hx) 10:31 PM CEST - May,09 2001 - Post a comment
Gamespy has written a new preview of One Must Fall: Battlegrounds, Diversions Entertainment's upcoming giant robot fighting game. Like the original game, OMF: Battlegrounds is the brainchild of Rob Elam's homegrown development house, Diversions Entertainment. He began work on what would eventually metamorphose into OMF: Battlegrounds shortly after the original game was published by Epic Games. During development of the sequel, Elam parted ways with Epic and gathered a new creative team for the sequel. A publisher has yet to be announced for the new game, tentatively scheduled for a first quarter 2002 release.
In OMF: Battlegrounds, giant robots will again mercilessly smash and bash each other, and old favorite characters like Jaguar, Pyros, Chronos, Gargoyle, and Katana will be back. New characters will include Force, Mantis, and Warlord. Each robot will each have a unique set of special moves and combos, some of which sound pretty wild. Force, for instance, will be able to manipulate gravity to hurtle meteors down from space onto opponents. Warlord is a military machine that's been put into arena fighting service. With him you'll be able to assault your enemies using a mace, rocket launcher, grenade launcher, chaingun, and massive claw. Mantis will employ kung-fu moves and likely skewer opponents with his massive spike-like hands. [more]
