Nvidia unveils the GeForce GTX 780 Ti - tech
(hx) 12:41 PM CEST - Oct,19 2013 - Post a comment / read (15)
Nvidia boss Jen-Hsun Huang unveiled the GeForce GTX 780 Ti, described as the "best GPU that's ever been built." The GTX 780 Ti is being positioned as NVIDIA's new high-end gaming card, replacing the existing GTX 780 in that role. Specs, pricing, and the underlying hardware are all unknowns at the moment.

With the GTX Titan and GTX 780 already on the market and the jumps from GTX 770 to 780 to Titan being basically trackable, you’ll likely find this card ringing in at or around a clock speed of 800Mhz and a transistor count at 7.1B, much like the other two higher-end cards on the market today. The launch price on this unit will likely fall somewhere close to the GTX 780 with $650 being a relatively safe bet, while the GTX Titan will more than likely continue to command the top spot for price and abilities – for big-spending consumers, gamers that is. This GPU will also launch with gaming freebies in tow – much like the rest of the high-end card line was revealed to be rolling with tied to the likes of Batman: Arkham Origins.

In related news, NVIDIA announced this week what gamers can expect this year from its Holiday Gaming Bundle update.

A new egotastic purchase for our devout PC gamer and Sony loving Mr. Techbuff. But otherwise a pointless purchase.

No 4k gaming for you, Tom. Thankfully, not everyone thinks like you.

If, by chance, you mean that the card is not good price/performance wise, then I might agree with you when they reveal how much it would actually cost.

4K gaming? Are you joking?
Firstly: WHAT should I play in 4K ? Something that I already played? There are no new games out, or at least nothing 4K worthy.

Secondly: 4K monitor/TV/projector costs a fortune.

Like everything new, it's expensive. Prices will drop with time and if you notice the trends, textures grow in size and resolution. As for which games to play, the new Assassins Creed will have 4K textures.

Well, when prices of 4K display devices drop to reasonable level, say under 500$, there will be R12 590x for 500$ and geForce TitanX3 Ti. You will probably be able to push 4K gaming with sub 250$ card and until then, I, and most people, are not considering it. At this point it's a luxury. I can build a decent 1080p home theater based on 1080p projector with 7 meters diagonal...

New assassins creed will not benefit from 4K textures bcs it still has 1K (so to speak) graphics engine. Game looks good but I doubt people will invest thousands of dollars just to play it in 4K lol

4king pointless gaming

just isn't any decent games I want to play anymore, nothing where are the good games.. I'm not even interested in GTA now.

I want to play a new Stalker game that isn't made by a studio of idiots.

Tom(02:21 PM CEST - Oct,21 2013 )
4King, pfftt. I love PC gaming but 4King? Give me a fucking break. PC gaming ain't worth it that much. Like I said, unlike Mr. Techbuff (or so he calls himself, lmao) I got no ego to boast or satisfy. Trust me, this sucker will buy it. He'll walk to the store with his old age pension cheque, forgo his usual purchase of viagra and geritol and run right away to the store. Then he'll come on here and post his amateur performance stats.

Based on the usual way things work, this card is going to be a rip off, they ALWAYS are. Ya no thanks, my 560 still performs perfectly and as far as I'm concerned I don't need a new card nor do I see a need for one. Though the only game I could think would use this power would be Star Citizen, but I'll worry about that in a year from now.

gx-x(03:29 PM CEST - Oct,21 2013 )
this card will be priced so that it closely matches R9 290x, it's the reason for it's existence.

Tom(05:10 PM CEST - Oct,21 2013 )
It's gonna be mid $600's to $700's. A complete and utter waste of money.

gx-x(05:39 PM CEST - Oct,21 2013 )
Tom> It's gonna be mid $600's to $700's. A complete and utter waste of money.
agreed. But, it's going to push price of gtx780 down, and 750Ti will push price of other cards down bcs gtx760 has to go down in price to match R9 280x etc.
So, as always, we are going to see the shift towards lower prices on older cards before the 2014 Q1 when we expect new overpriced models that will in turn push price of Titan and 780Ti down.

Tom(08:05 PM CEST - Oct,21 2013 )
Yep it's the same thing every time. My plan is to look at a new card late next year. My 560 is doing great still even if I have to knock it down to 1600x900 sometimes (rare). Big deal.

gx-x(08:19 PM CEST - Oct,21 2013 )
well it would be a big deal for me, but I am still to find a game that would make me do that. However, I like to play in 1440p render than downscale to 1080p, looks very very good, gives more detail and it's basically supersampling. Problem is, it is demanding. I could play Dead Space 3 like that, but for some reason Borderlands 2 is more demanding than DS3 (I guess open areas are to "blame") and I cannot pull it off which makes me kinda sad bcs game doesn't have AA (has FXAA :S ) and it's screaming for that downscaling trick :)

oh well, I guess to each his own.
btw I am on 650Ti boost and it is a nice upgrade over 560ti that I had earlier and cost wise, it's just a small upgrade, 20-30 bucks or so. I am waiting for prices to settle and will probably pick up gtx 750 Ti and leave it at that for next year or so. It's more of a warranty thing than a "need better gpu" thing. I try to replace cards before warranty is over (easier to sell and I get better value) and replace it with new card with new warranty. Personally, I cannot afford card out of warranty dying on me, that would mean I would have to pull a lot more cash to get a new card. The way I am doing replacemnts, it only costs me about ~50 bucks per upgrade every time and I get new hardware and more performance each time (say, once a year)

I was at some point. I don't have anything against enthusiast, but since I Was one at some point (and that "point" lasted over 6 years) I now know better. Uninstall 3dmark and software like that and suddenly you have more money and more time.
