Supreme Commander 2 Q&A with Chris Taylor -
The Q&A
includes talk of factions, DLCs, DirectX, PC vs. Xbox version, and here's a little snippet: 'Believe it or not, we use DirectX 9, but there is good reason for doing this. One of our main goals was to produce a game that more people than ever would be able to play. It's a fun idea to use the hottest new graphics API, but we stuck to our guns to create the best looking RTS game with a proven API so that people everywhere could play.'
Mafia II: 'No Other Open World City Comes Close' -
In an interview with IncGamers
, the game's senior producer Denby Grace emphasised that as well as having a strong narrative, on a technical level, Mafia II will stand out from the competition.

Bioshock 2 - new character detailed -
Bioshock 2 creator 2K Marin has revealed
details of new character Augustus Sinclair
- calling him 'affably monstrous'. Sinclair was referenced in the first game, but has a much bigger role to play in the sequel. One of the key figures in Rapture's scientific community, he owns the chilling Sinclair Solutions - responsible for plasmid research. "Sinclair - who appears prominently in both the single-player and multiplayer versions of the game - is a good example of moral relativism," 2K Marin creative director Jordan Thomas told this month's PC Zone. "He's not a nihilist, such as Fontaine, be he's continually defining the rules on the hoof as he goes. He is closer to us, yet he has no scruples. He is affably monstrous from time to time, but he is also a useful ally to you."
Command & Conquer 4 Beta Details -
The Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight open multiplayer
beta features four maps
including the new Afflicted Arena. This new map features a once lush, Polynesian landscape transformed into a military dock by the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and currently besieged by Brotherhood of Nod forces aiming to claim the tactically important location and take control of the Pacific Rim. Players in the roles of the Offense, Defense and Support classes will engage in strategic battles to win key vantage points across the map and secure a majority of the TCN Hubs to take control of this vital location. Experience earned through the new Persistent Player Progression system during the multiplayer beta period will be transitioned to the full game upon its release.
Stop Asking for BFBC2 Prone -
Battlefield Bad Company 2 lead designer David Goldfarb has
tweeted
that they are not adding a prone position to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 no matter how much you ask.
Stargate Resistance Release Date -
Stargate Resistance
will debut in downloadable form February 10, developer FireSky has revealed. Priced at $19.99, the third-person multiplayer shooter is currently available for pre-order via
Direct2Drive
, which is offering up exclusive armor, weapons and emotes as a pre-order incentive.
Star Trek Online Midnight Madness -
The Star Trek Online Tumblelog has
details
on a small number of US GameStop locations where Star Trek Online can be purchased as of the stroke of midnight for those eager to play Cryptic's Trekkie MMORPG, which launches tomorrow
Global Agenda Launched -
As a special agent playing only the non-subscription features
, players can fully level eight different agent characters, participating in both player-vs-player and cooperative missions, as they infiltrate locations belonging to a totalitarian faction, The Commonwealth, and establish themselves inside the game world. Players in Global Agenda: Conquest form their own groups, called Agencies. These Agencies conquer territory, construct facilities, manufacture vehicles, raid bases, and engage in formal and informal alliances and betrayals on their way toward world domination. The Conquest meta-game revolves around player-driven politics and strategy with each battle being resolved via squad-based combat.
Halo Reach won't use Natal -
Bungie has confirmed that
Halo Reach won’t be using Microsoft’s Natal motion controller
, and will rely solely on the classic Xbox 360 controller layout. The obvious reason for this is that Natal will take over 10% of the Xbox 360 CPU, and for a game like Halo Reach, which will utilize every available resource, it’s quite a lot to ask for.
US: Game Retail Kiosks Scrapped -
Retail giants Wal-Mart and Best Buy have
pulled out of a plan to extend their reach in the games market
via automatic store-based kiosks. In May last year Wal-Mart teamed up with E-Play to place kiosks in 80 of its 3,600 U.S. stores, while Best Buy also carried the experiment in a limited number of stores. However, the plan has been terminated due to underwhelming response.
World of Warcraft headset finally available to pre-order -

If Mafia 2 is half the game Mafia was...I will be happy.
There was other news?

Well I for one am glad for no prone in BC2. Game already is getting on my nerves with no restriction on which guns are used. Seems the most I get killed with is some lame ass sitting on the mountain a million miles away. That's all we need, the guy to be prone in the bushes sniping. One thing that also sucks about BC2 is the deathcam, talk about absolutely f'ing pointless. How you are supposed to determine anyone is cheating with that cam is beyond me. Or maybe that's the whole point, mask cheating.

I just wish they would, at times, just cut the bull... and let the game do the talking
Between GTA4, Oblivion or Fallout 3 , these games have levels of gameplay that are pretty unparalleled; regardless of doors that don't open or textures that you can't skuff the skin off your hand on. It's [u:8e615164c2]not[/u:8e615164c2] about that, it's how a world is filled with living breathing [u:8e615164c2]everything[/u:8e615164c2] and allows the gamer to play using many, many methods.
If it's good cool, shouldn't need to pump it up with lame comments about textures though.....imagine saying that about an RPG for instance. lol!

actually mafia had a really well designed life within the game. characters interacted. everyone was peachy. life was swell in a mafia infested world.
i don't think they're talking about interaction with the world, but most likely with the interaction within the world. much like the original mafia. the only downfall in mafia was the game play as it sometimes was buggy. but the world was amazing. In complete honesty no game has yet come close to the life that mafia had, in my opinion. GTA series were mission oriented and only good thing free roaming was good for was killing. Mafia had it all. You can enjoy it without being on a mission.
If Mafia 2 has still some of mafia 1 in it, then it'll be amazing. Simple as that. it's not a bold statement since they have a top notch game behind them. If however this was a spider man 4 game and that was the statement... then you know... everyone who played the first mafia has high hopes for this.

"If Mafia 2 is half the game Mafia was...I will be happy. "
I wouldn't be happy.. I'd be downright pissed.. You'd accept something that was only half as good as the original? I don't even accept shitty efforts from a crap OS like Windows 7, that's 8+years older than XP and still give win7 an ass wooping by having better shell extensions and performance, and having the better better explorer ui and customization etc.
So no.. Mafia 2 will have to be at least good as Mafia or better, shouldn't be too hard to fuck up really. But then its been developed for consoletards aswel so that is obviously going to bring things right down.
I personally don't see it being anymore better technically than GTAIV, just a different environment, they haven't mentioned any unique features that stand out at all. I will be be happy to see its return though, Mafia the original was unique and well made though its extensibility after completion was fucking shit.
