(hx) 01:12 AM CET - Feb,05 2009 - Post a comment
  • Dawn of War 2 Interview - Shacknews has a 4 page article posted that covers 'Expanding the RTS Genre, Killing the Fear Factor, and Homeworld 3'
  • Diablo III Video Interview - GameStar.de talks with Leonard Boyarsky, asking the former Troika mainstay about plans for Diablo III.
  • Telltale's Wallace and Gromit Coming to Xbox 360, PC - Telltale Games, the creators of the recent Sam & Max episodic games, today announced that its upcoming series Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures will see its first release this spring on Xbox Live Arcade and PC.
  • Stardock Plans New PC RPG - Helped in part by generous Michigan tax breaks, developer/publisher Stardock (Sins of a Solar Empire, Demigod) is planning a $900,000 expansion of its headquarters to accomodate development of a new PC roleplaying game. The expansion will create some 53 jobs, pushing the company's workforce to well over 100 employees--an impressive number for the once-modest Plymouth, Michigan based studio. Stardock is readying to ship its collaborative effort with developer Gas Powered Games', the PC strategy title Demigod, in March of this year. The company is also hard at work on the fantasy-strategy game Elemental: War of Magic (PC), due for a February 2010 release.
  • Burnout Paradise Patch - The first patch is available to update the Windows edition of Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box to version 1.0.0.1
  • Audiosurf Update - The new version adds Unicode support, enhanced community features, support for play on netbooks, a new Visualizer mode, and more
  • Fable 2 - Hi-Res Map - Lionhead has relased a super-duper hi-res map of Fable II's Albion (40MB).
  • NecroVisioN Specs - The official website for NecroVisioN offers system specifications, with the minimum spec calling for an Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz or AMD Athlon 64 +2800 CPU and a 256 MB Video RAM or greater with DirectX9 Pixel Shader 3.0 support, while the recommended spec demands an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.80 GHz or AMD X2 5000+ CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 series or ATI Radeon HD 38xx series graphics card.
  • Perimeter 2 Pre-Purchase 10% Discount - Those willing to buy before they try the terraforming RTS sequel will receive a 10% discount off the purchase price if they pull the trigger before February 10.
  • Gamefly acquires Shacknews and Fileshack- According to this post on Shacknews, the popular gaming website has been sold to GameFly. Additional reporting from Forbes says that Steve Gibson will be leaving the site and that Maarten will stay involved at least for a while.
  • More layoffs at Mythic, senior designers affected - Joystiq has learned from several well-placed sources that a second round -- a much more serious round -- of layoffs has struck Mythic Entertainment. These cuts go further and deeper than the last round, which saw several members of the support staff let go. Current estimates indicate that between 60 and 130 people have been let go.
  • THQ eliminating 600 jobs - Publisher THQ is giving the axe to 24% -- about 600 -- of its workforce as part of cost reduction measures. The publisher has not disclosed which divisions or specific studios will be affected by the layoffs, stating only that it "will reduce costs in each functional area." THQ eliminated 100 jobs at its mobile division offices in San Diego, Germany, and the UK at the end of January. It's currently unclear if these jobs are in addition to the 600 the company announced plans to do away with today.
