  • Dungeons and Dragons Online: behold the power of free - Dungeons and Dragons Online is enjoying a second life in terms of player count and buzz, all thanks to a new business strategy: giving the game away. Turbine is making their MMO as accessible as possible, and that includes making players who don't pay anything as happy as possible. Subscriptions are up 40 percent. ArsTechnica explores how free can be very profitable.
  • Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection on November 10 - Square Enix announces they will release Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection on November 10 in North America for Windows and Xbox 360. This MMORPG bundle will include all the content created for the title for an MSRP of $19.99.

  • Civilization 4 Complete Half-off on Steam - The entire Complete pack--which includes Civ IV, the Warlords and Beyond the Sword expansions, and the Civ IV: Colonization spin-off--can be had for only $20, which represents a savings of 50%. The sale runs through Friday.

  • Rumor: AMD wins GPU bid for next Xbox console - Fuzilla claims that AMD / ATI has landed the GPU deal for the next generation Xbox console. You all know that the GPU in the current 360 was made by the firm as well.
The report also states that the new console will be released in 2012 since the current economic crisis prevented a 2010 release, and that legacy games will be compatible with the system.
  • Captain Lou Albano Has Died - Captain Lou Albano, best known for his amazing live action renditions of Mario on the Super Mario Super Show, as well as being Cyndi Lauper's in-music-video dad and wrestling some people, has passed away at the age of 76
  • Amazon and Toys R Us Doing Buy 2 Get 1 Free This Week - Both Toys R Us and Amazon are doing a buy 2 Get 1 free promo right now. So, if you've seen some games coming out that you want you may want to check them out. TRU looks to have the better of the two deals considering Amazon is only doing it for specific titles, but hey... they're both big sales that'll save you some money.
