Lord Of The Rings Online Enters Beta Phase - Turbine's PR folks
have announced that their upcoming fantasy MMORPG
Lord Of The Rings
Online has officially entered its beta stage. This Beta is by invitation
only and over time more and more players will be invited. Fans can continue to
register to join the Beta Program by visiting http://www.lotro.com/betasignup
for North America and http://www.lotro-europe.com for the European program.

- Parabellum Trailer - Developer Acony Games has released the first
gameplay movie from
Parabellum,
showing off the upcoming Unreal Engine 3 powered first person shooter. The

- Robotopia Demo -
Robotopia (45MB) is an action, fast paced shooter that takes you online to
stage epic battles that span across a beautiful multi-scrolling world.
- Secret Files Tunguska UK Delayed - The release of Secret Files:
Tunguska experienced a setback today, as
Deep Silver announced a delay of approximately two weeks in the UK. The
new tentative release date for Secret Files: Tunguska in the UK is September
29th. The North American version of the game is targeted for the middle of
this month.
- Joint Task Force Next Week -
The Fall 2006 release date has been narrowed to September 12, 2006. Word
is: "The definitive 21st century strategy game has arrived. Get your boots
dirty as you lead the fight to secure the world’s most volatile regions. Bring
officially-licensed military technology to bear in real-world combat
situations, overflowing with embedded media, refugees, and deadly insurgents."
- Vivendi Confirms Double Fine Deal - Publisher Vivendi Games has
officially
confirmed its deal with developer Double Fine Productions, first uncovered
last week. The agreement will see Vivendi's Sierra Entertainment label publish
the next game from the studio founded by design veteran Tim Schafer (Full
Throttle, Grim Fandango).
- Gears Of War Collector's Edition: Unwrapped (Xbox 360) - Microsoft
Games Studios has updated the
Gears
of War fact page with the contents of the Gears of War Collector's
Edition. The price was reported to be $69.99 (U.S.)
- Bungie's Work Beyond Halo 3 - Dean Takahashi has
a blog entry at the Mercury News wherein he talks about a secret project
at Bungie and even a 3rd project.
- New Free Cars For Test Drive Unlimited - Atari send over word that
two new cars (the Audi RS4 Quattro and the Nissan Skyline GT-R34) are now
available for free download via Xbox Live for their just released Xbox 360
open world driving game Test Drive Unlimited
- NHL 2K7 Demo On Xbox Live Marketplace - The demo comes in at a
whopping 1GB, but this is likely because it is a full game demo, not just a
shootout like NHL 07.
- Xbox 360 HD-DVD Price and Bundle Confirmed? - Retail sources have
indicated to GamesIndustry.biz that Microsoft is currently planning to price
the standalone HD-DVD drive at GBP 199 (293 Euro), and to package it with
two HD-DVD movies. The sources also suggested that Microsoft will bundle the
Premium console and next-generation movie player together for under GBP 400
(589 Euro) – and that the price could even be as low as GBP 375 (552 Euros).
