- Pitchford: Duke Nuke Forever Multiplayer
- [It's] one of the things I want to avoid right now - Randy Pitchford exactly stated,
"[It's] one of the things I want to avoid right now. Duke Nukem is all
about the entertainment, and I know we’re living in a world
right now where all anyone wants to hear about are the features, like
how many vehicles are in it and all that, but think that kind of takes
away from the bigger picture. The goal, and the reality, is that this
is the Duke Nukem experience. It’s like what we could imagine
when we played Duke Nukem 3D, but it’s today, and
it’s in today’s world of gaming. That speaks a lot
to it – I mean, sometime later we’ll talk about
multiplayer after the shock and awe settle, but I thing the biggest
story is that it’s actually here.."
- Aliens: Colonial Marines Teased at PAX 2010 - Gearbox
Software's Randy Pitchford doesn't want you to think that the house of
Borderlands and Duke Nukem Forever forgot about their Aliens game. To
reassure us the project is alive, his team flashed screenshots of it
at Gearbox's PAX panel. Publisher Sega once had the game scheduled for
release in the first quarter of 2009. However, it was then delayed
following the announcement of Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator, which
was released in February 2010. Sega has said that the release date of
Colonial Marines could also be affected by the sales performance of AvP.
- Arcania: Gothic 4 Demo Confirmed -
Dreamcatcher Games and JoWood Entertainment have confirmed that they are releasing a demo
of the upcoming RPG, Arcania: Gothic 4, on September 24th. The demo
comprises the first two hours of the game and shows the beginning
tutorial level on Feshyr Island featuring selected quests.
- Free Borderlands update will raise level cap,
rebalance main game - A patch for Borderlands will raise its level
cap and rebalance the shooter RPG accordingly, developer Gearbox explained during PAX panel.
The free patch for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will raise the level
cap to the hilarious number of 69 and, in the words of Gearbox CEO
Randy Pitchford, 'rebalance the original game around the level cap.'
- Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 in the works? - There
hasn't been a new title in the series since 2004 when Rollercoaster
Tycoon 3 was released by Atari. However a recent message board post by an Atari team
members on the publisher's message boards states, "We are
thinking hard about the next Rollercoaster Tycoon game on PC."
- inFamous 2 Trailer: Three Minutes of Gameplay -
The PlayStation 3 exclusive is
slated for release some time in 2011.
- Patrician IV: Conquest by Trade Goes Gold - Kalypso
Media announced the completion of development on Patrician
IV: Conquest by Trade, saying the now-gold PC economic and
trading simulation will ship to North American stores on September 14.
Developed by Gaming Minds Studios, which consists of members of the
original Patrician development team, Patrician IV will put players in
the role of a young merchant in the Baltic and North Sea during the
late Middle Ages. Players will start off at the bottom of the totem
pole as a small stall trader and over time will eventually rise through
the ranks to become the most powerful merchant in Europe.
- The Bible Online Open Beta - The
Bible Online (TBO) has announced the opening of beta for the
browser-based MMO; the first browser game based on the world view and
scenarios from the Bible. Oddly enough, the game's beta was set to go
live about 20 minutes ago and I had some trouble getting to the site
initially.
- Company Of Heroes Online lead designer dies in car
crash - Just one day after Company of Heroes Online went
into open beta, the lead designer of the Relic-developed
free-to-play RTS title died in a car crash in the Seattle
area on Friday that also killed two other people, according to online
media stories. Terrible news. Truly sad when something like
this happens. My thoughts and wishes are with the family and friends of
Brian Wood, and I hope that he can find some form of peace now.
