Electronic Arts sent out a press release annoucing Need For Speed Underground 2, the eighth installment in the hard driving Need for Speed series. Need for Speed Underground 2 is currently under development by EA Canada and is scheduled for release in fall 2004 for the PC, PS2, Xbox, GC, GBA.

Need for Speed Underground 2 will challenge gamers to immerse themselves in the tuner culture, exploring an expansive, free-roaming city divided into five distinct neighbourhoods. Gamers will encounter rival racers who will initiate events, tip players off to the hottest racing spots, and show them where to buy the most sought-after licensed aftermarket upgrades.

The game will feature new game modes, deep new performance customisation and tuning, and more than 30 licensed cars. The game also delivers twice the visual customisation upgrades as the original game, providing a staggering 70 billion possible car combinations for total automotive self-expression.

Anything think this version 2 sounds remotly like Midnight Club II? , whats next though need for speed underground 3 tuners edition ?. I want to drive through different locations forests , mountain areas. NOT CITIES!

Ya and be another fag on the road? no thanks. I laugh at kiddies today who spend their wad making their honda civic looking 'apparently' cool. I guess when you can't get the chicks with your looks, you resort to making your car look nice! Nothing gives me more pleasure insulting them by burning them at a light with my lousy GM! Hahahhaa!!

The game modes in Underground was great, its fun racing people and testing thier reflexes but the big problem was it took place in one town and everything looked the same, they need more tracks and maybe more tunner options like how the suspension rides and so on. Add more cars like the cavalier to ferrari and itll be a winner.

EA finally understood that, they screwd the first one...so they try to make better one...but remember 2 part of splinter cell was announced already then first one was out few days...

I'm hoping they'll port the original Motor City Online functionality with the car lots, race track chat rooms before joining races, parts catalog, and tuning specs display based on parts bought/used(i.e. torque, hp, carb flow, weight distribution, etc.). That was the best total experience into street racing ever. I'm not knocking NFSU. It has the best and most modern graphics engine and car physics models of all programs today, hands down. I just miss building the car up with actual performance of all the integrated parts, like in MCO. Please bring it on in NFSU2, Electronic Arts!

wow...maybe this time they could do all the upgrades to the game and add in the extra stuff that wasn't there in underground, 70 billion upgrades...great but we need more ass kicking cars. And a different combination of tracks and cars.

How about bringing in all the muscle cars from MCO. EA has all the licences and the physics. They should also include the best American muscle equipment setups to use across the car models, so they can be competitive with the tuners.
