Games Domain has written a new preview of Nexagon: the Pit, Strategy First's upcoming 3D action strategy game.
Your goal in Nexagon is to lead your warriors to freedom as you progress through several different competitive divisions. Your units, or thralls, will gain experience between each competition, and each one will have special upgrades available. This RPG-style element should help you identify with your characters as well as add tension as you try to preserve the work you've put into them.
The battles in Nexagon play out in colorful, alien-looking 3D arenas that float high in the sky. You have a persistent base, or sanctum, that you can edit between matches with the money you've earned. You'll set up bomb-lobbing contraptions, blockades, traps, and other items to put a kink in your enemies' plans. These combat arenas will play a major part in your tactics, not just because of the way you can build them up, but also the way you can knock them down. You can smash, topple, or blow up most of what you find in your environment. Turrets, walls, and elevators can all be damaged or obliterated.
