Jonric: What are you willing to tell us about the narrative aspect this time? And to what degree will it be linear versus open-ended? Ferret Baudoin: The main plot of this game evolves as you go, but some of it centers on a battle fought when the player was but a tyke between a sinister warlock that scribes dubbed the King of Shadows and the denizens of the lower planes he conjured for his foul ambitions. Neverwinter raised an army to deal with this threat, and the final battle of the war took place right in the player's home town - West Harbor. The whole war isn't understood well because no one survived the cruel battles fought through the Mere of Dead Men. And some evils just refuse to die. Our game is a mix of linearity and open-ended. Going fully open-ended makes it really tough to tell a coherent, gripping story because you have no idea where the player is coming from and what they just did. We wanted the world to evolve and change based on events and the player's decisions - so we're a familiar blend of linearity and open-ended.
