Fansite NFSUnlimted.net let us know they have posted a Q&A with EA as they answer over 15 questions about Need for Speed: Underground 2, the next installment in the racing series. Here's a slice:

Will the multiplayer experience be extended to other areas, such as LAN play, direct cable connection, split screen, multitap?

The multiplayer experience has been enhanced with some new game modes and features. One of the nicest additions is the ability to play split-screen outrun races, which is basically lose your opponent using the open world to your advantage. We've also beefed up our multiplayer featureset with the addition of LAN play. This year a computer can be designated a LAN server to which all computers can then connect to and challenge each other using a very similar system to how online is handled. There's so much going into Online Mode this year I'm going to answer this in more detail at a later date.

i'm sorry, i like nfs series alot but this nfs:u 2 looks like complete crap. i was expecting way better graphics. i liked the split screen too on mp and there isn't any.. this is just a piece of crap and total disaster of a once good series. colin mcrae i think it is, has just amazing gfx and it really feels like ur racing. nfs:u 2 looks like a crappy cartoon compared to it. i played nfs: u 1 and it was ok but to go out spend same kinda cash on this seems pointless. anyhow, im disappointed if u can't tell.

and another thing. Why would I pay for the same game twice? This is the same game, just they added more options to customize which was a serious missing piece of the first one. If EA wasn't just in it for the money, they could have likely released a patch for the game to give further options. All around, I think this is a pretty lame release by EA
