- Post a comment Last week Namco producer Kawa-san went on record with DengekiPS regarding long awaited PlayStation2 flight shooter; Ace Combat 4. To begin, he discussed some of enhancements being planned: "On the PlayStaton2 we've made many improvements to the basic Ace Combat engine. For example, you can see further into the distance, and the horizon is represented much more realistically. We're also incorporating realistic geographic features such as asteroid craters. We wanted the game to have an outer-worldly atmosphere, while preserving its realism." Continuing, Kawa-san spoke about some of the planes expected in the finished version: "Unlike Ace Combat 3, all the planes in AC4 are models of actual planes currently in use. There will be several new planes as well, such as the F-22 Raptor and Mirage 2000. I can't give you can exact number yet, around twenty planes will be available in the finished version. The development team wanted to limit the aircraft to actual planes because of the PlayStation2's ability to render things realistically. We thought the game would have a bigger draw if players saw planes they could instantly recognize."
