(hx) 09:38 PM CEST - Apr,02 2013 - Post a comment / read (6)
Mozilla has just released a new milestone version for their recuperating web browser. Firefox 20.0 offers -- as with most new versions -- a combination of stability improvements, bug fixes and HTML5 additions so you can browse the web with less hiccups. Although that sounds far from interesting, this latest stable release also introduces a few new features that are worth highlighting. Among them are an improved private browsing mode, a new download experience and the ability to close hanging plugins without the browser itself hanging.
What's New:
- NEW Per-window Private Browsing. Learn more.
- NEW New download experience. Learn more.
- NEW Ability to close hanging plugins, without the browser hanging
- CHANGED Continued performance improvements around common browser tasks (page loads, downloads, shutdown, etc.)
- DEVELOPER Continued implementation of draft ECMAScript 6 - clear() and Math.imul
- DEVELOPER New JavaScript Profiler tool
- HTML5 getUserMedia implemented for web access to the user's camera and microphone (with user permission)
- HTML5 canvas now supports blend modes
- HTML5 Various audio and video improvements
- FIXED Details button on Crash Reporter 793972
- FIXED Unity plugin doesn't display in HiDPI mode 829284

Csimbi> Not compatible with Classic Compact...

but it looks faster for me than previous versions...surprisingly.

Just grabbed the update don't notice much in terms of performance. Had a few hung firefox processes, have to see if that's gone now. I'm grateful for the continued updates.

I like chrome and opera but since ABP and Noscript I can't find myself replacing FF with another browser. IE still isn't there but much improved.

Yeah, those two are a life-saver!

BTW, I got tired of waiting for an update for Classic compact, so I just hacked it myself to work on 20.0.
Find the relevant XPI files (these are ZIPs), and edit install.rdf in each.
Just look for maxVersion and replace 20.0a1 with 20.0.
Done, done and works.

If you're not sure what you're doing, make a backup!
