- HKEPC tests Core 2 Duo power draw, overclocking -
In HKEPC's testing, the Core 2 machine idled at 77 W and climbed to just
118 W during a CPU Burn test. Meanwhile, the Athlon 64 FX-62-powered AMD
system drew 98 W at idle and 142 W at load. In other news,

- Microsoft Ending SP1 Support - Just as a friendly reminder,
Microsoft is going to be ending all support for Service Pack 1 as of October
10th. That means there will no longer be any security updates so make sure
to migrate over to SP2.
- PayPal fixes fatal flaw -
The issue was publicised by Netcraft, and PayPal swiftly fixed it. However
it is unclear how many people lost personal details because of it.
The scam
involved tricking users into accessing a URL hosted on the real PayPal web
site. This URL used SSL to encrypt information transmitted to and from the
site, and a valid 256-bit SSL certificate was presented to confirm that the
site does indeed belong to PayPal. But the content on the page was been
modified by the fraudsters via a cross-site scripting technique (XSS).
