(hx) 05:57 PM CEST - Oct,24 2005 - Post a comment
Oh, Lord, It's Monday Again :) I spend the whole weekend with working on my new backup PC and backups.  It was pretty boring, but I sleep better knowing my vital data is kept safe from disaster. I also plan to go buy an Asus WL-500g firewall. If anyone has good/bad experience with this device, please let me know.

Here's some stuff:
  • Sony confirms PS3 will ship with in-built parental controls - Sony has reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of minors from the effects of violent videogames with the announcement of in-built parental controls for its next generation PS3 console.
  • Way down on the Gizmondo - The Gizmondo, an interesting game device that has some unique features like GPS, a built in camera, and GPRS data support, launched yesterday in the US. However, you can't take advantage of nifty location-based GPS features without plopping down extra cash for the required mapping software ($169 for regional coverage, $249 for the entire continental United States). A complete system bundle will go for $399.
  • Shooters’ delight: Wolf Claw II keyboard - The Wolf Claw II FPS keyboard lets you create your very own ergonomically-correct “circle of death” with a circular layout of 40 dedicated FPS keys. It also sports a more thumb-friendly vertical space bar so you can pump a few extra rounds into your buddies in seconds flat.
Talking TV Remote Control Holder -
This clever/annoying device detects when the remote is missing from its holder and periodically says "Where's the remote?" and "Please put the remote back!" It even thanks you once it's replaced.
  • Sony PSP Giga Pack Comes to USA and Europe - The Sony PSP Giga Pack (the same PR for Europe users) includes the PSP System, a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, battery pack, AC adaptor, USB Cable, and an all-new PSP Stand. The PSP in the Giga Pack will already have firmware 2.0 (not the new 2.5) pre-installed. The Sony PSP Giga Pack will sell for $299 starting in November in the US.
  • New AOC 20 inch LCD Monitor - The AOC Envision Series 20 inch EN2028 LCD monitor features 1600x1200 pixels, 12ms response time and a 700:1 contrast ratio. Retail price for the EN2028 is $549.
  • T-Mobile MDA Vario communicator unveiled - To support quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, the device will also offer GPRS and EDGE for high speed data transfers, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11b for shorter-range connections.
  • photos of HTC Star Trek smartphone and HTC Hermes Pocket PC phone - check it out!
  • Mini USB Fan Humidifier - It measures only 10x8x17cm, so it is good for personal use in a small office. Internal fan rotates at high-speed. There is a little container for water at the back. It is powered by USB port of a pc or a laptop.
  • Yes, God Is a PC Case - This PC case is almost near completion and has taken countless months to produce. It comes with 2 seperate hydraulic pumps for cooling the bastard. The case is lit up in a beautiful blue and green combo that flows through the tubing with a sex-tastic luminosity.
  • Congress Pays You $3 Billion to Keep Watching TV (US) - After budgets cuts led to the layoff of engineers and scientists at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a US Senate committee has approved a $3 billion dollar subsidy to assist Americans in their difficult transition to digital television in 2009.
  • Quake 4 High-end Graphics Shootout - The tables turn a little once Quake 4's ultra quality mode is turned on. The GeForce 7800 GT is able to outperform the RADEON X1800 XL, while the GeForce 7800 GTX pulls to within 16% of the X1800 XT.
  • A Guided Tour of the Microsoft Command Shell - Ars Technica has published an in-depth, 13 page review of the new Microsoft Command Shell (also known as Monad)
  • Google initiates second email phase - Currently, invites work for students and mobile phone owners in the US of A, but it is surely only a matter of time before Google goes international with these services.
  • Robo-soccer kicks off for Christmas - The world's first multi-player robot football game is set to launch exclusively in the UK in time for the lucrative Christmas market. Dubbed Mr Soccer, the hi-tech football game features radio-controlled robots. Players manoeuvre the dribbling droids forward, back, left and right, and shoot to score more goals than the opponent.
