This week has a few interesting games shipping to stores this week. Here are just some of the highlights: Half-Life 2: Episode 1 (PC), Hitman: Blood Money (PC, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360), Stacked with Daniel Negreanu (PC, PS2, Xbox). BTW: Are you getting Half-Life 2: Episode 1?
  • Half-Life 2: Episode 1 preview - Game Informer recently made a trip to Valve to get the latest on Half-Life 2: Episode 1 before its release on the 1st. The preview provides a number of details about the game. I suppose a spoiler warning may be necessary before you go read it, but there's nothing exceptionally major spoiled there.
  • Gothic III - Preview Update - In response to the Evil Avatar's Gothic 3 E3 Preview, it appears there's been a new development: Gothic 3's bestial line-up will not scale like Oblivion's. Creature balance will remain largely the same as it was in the 2 predecessors aside from one crucial aspect. Originally Posted by Aspyr Media: "However certain key encounters *may* scale in order to facilitate balance within the gameplay. "
  • Jagged Farm Announced - GFI sent us a press release announcing Jagged Farm, an upcoming real-time strategy game centered around a group of pigs who decide to revolt.  Heh :)
  • No Brakes: X Racing Announced - The Exotypos Homepage announces development of No Brakes: X Racing, an independently developed arcade racing game offering support for advanced graphics features like pixel shaders 2.0 and HDR lighting.
  • Warhammer Online shots - Mythic's Warhammer Online website has been updated, offering a new set of screenshots from this upcoming MMORPG
  • Atlantis V trailer - Adventure Gamers has the announcement of a project codenamed Atlantis V, the fifth installment in this point-and-click adventure series from Atlantis Interactive Entertainment slated for release in October. The story has a link to a trailer from the game, which can also be found on 3D Downloads, 3DGamers, GH, and WP
  • Universal Combat - A World Apart patch v1.00.15 - Another patch for Universal Combat - A World Apart has been released to bring the standalone 3D action / space-combat expansion by 3000 AD to version 1.00.15.
  • Galactic Civilizations II Beta Patch - The Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords website offers a new beta 1 version 1.2 patch for Stardock's space strategy sequel. The new version contains significant changes, including modification support.
  • Community Loadscreen Pack 1 for UT2k4 - The Community Loadscreen Pack 1 has been released. It contains 20 user-created load screens for you to enjoy,
  • What Is Irrational's Next Big Project? -  According to the developer's web site, the company is hiring a number of team members to work on an upcoming title and they describe it as "the sequel to one of the best loved PC franchises of all time.
  • No More Neverwinter Nights Premimum Modules? - According to a news post on fan site Neverwinter Vault, publisher Atari has told developer BioWare to not release anymore paid premimum modules for the D&D RPG Neverwinter Nights. Posts by Bioware Employees seem to confirm the report.
    The cancelled modules apparently included a module called Wyvern Crown made by the DLA Team, just announced a few days ago
  • Wii gesture-drumming with WiiMote -Impressive Wii drum demo that shows just what the Wiimote is capable of. In other news, Joystiq is running a poll with interesting results: at last count close to 50% of gamers will run with a Wii and a 360, and another 25% will go with just a Wii. The PS3 is taking a hammering it seems after E3. Is it price, functionality, delays, or all of the above?
  • Undiluted Platinum - World's First PSP Modchip specs - The U.P. contains 32MB NAND flash which is programmable from the PC via a high speed USB connection, using our user friendly software. You may boot the PSP from either its onboard flash or the flash contained on the U.P; the flash which is used is determined by a button press as the PSP is powered on (U.P. flash is used by default, hold L1 to use the PSP onboard flash). Since U.P. provides a secondary flash which the PSP can boot from, it can even be used to restore a PSP which has been "bricked".
  • 'N-Gage' Relaunched as Service - In an interesting move, Nokia has decided to kill off the N-Gage hardware but carry on with the N-Gage name; a name branded as a failure by most of the gaming media. Still, Nokia has announced they'll be re-introducing the N-Gage as a gaming service for the Nokia network

Yeah, I'm getting HL2 Episode1. I liked HL2 and well... it costs 5-10 bucks here in Ukraine (piracy prospers here), so why not?

You pay for piracy??! Can't you just download it? I mean when it does come out, it will be flooded everywhere. You can just download... you pay for piracy? When I made cds for friends i never charged a dime. It's just wrong! :(

There are lots of shops in Ukraine where you simply buy pirated games. I don't know who's tricking who, but some retailers pretend they don't sell pirated cd's, even though they obviously do.
I'll get a copy from a friend, I guess. But if I don't, I'll pay those 5 $ for it.
As for downloading, you've got a good unlimited connection for 19.95, right?
I pay 10$ for 150 Mb with 256 kbps and there aren't any better offers right now. The traffic is too expensive, I'd rather pay Valve than download it :) Consider also that most goods like food, average clothes etc are cheaper here, so the real cost of a good connection is even higher.
