  • Deus Ex 3 - To be Multi-Platform? - Deus Ex 3 looks to be heading to XBOX 360 and PS3 to be "very attractive and accessible to a wider audience." Not that that is too much of a surprise.
  • Square Enix Announces Three FFXI Expansions -  Square Enix has announced that there will be three new FFXI expansions spread out across 2010, each costing $9.99.  The first of these three battle area add-on content packages, titled 'Vision of Abyssea', is scheduled to launch early in the summer of 2010, and will be followed by two additional releases, 'Scars of Abyssea' and 'Heroes of Abyssea'. These content packages will be available via the PlayOnline Viewer, at the price of $9.99 each, with content available immediately upon purchase.
  • Splinter Cell: Conviction delays 'helped fix AI' - Ubisoft has revealed that the delays to Splinter: Cell Conviction provided extra time to fix issues with the game's AI.
  • Major Nelson Interviews Bad Company 2 Producers - Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson interviewed Battlefield: Bad Company 2 producers, Patrick Bach and Anders Gyllenberg.
  • Borderlands DLC to get disc release - 2K Games has told Eurogamer that all of Borderlands' downloadable content to date will be compiled on a disc which will hit shops in the UK on 9th April. The disc will be released for Xbox 360 and PC, with a PS3 version unconfirmed at present. The publisher wasn't able to tell us the price of the boxed release, but confirmed that it would include The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned (8/10), Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot (8/10) and last week's The Secret Armory of General Knoxx.
  • Fan made King's Quest game project shut down by Activision - The fan made project began in 2002 as an attempt to continue the series that was originally developed by Sierra Online. While the team did get the rights to make a non-commercial version by King's Quest's previous owners Vivendi Games, it appears that the property's new owners at Activision didn't want development of the fan made game to continue. No specific reason was given for Activision's decision.
  • PSN Crashed: 8001050F - It appears PSN crashed about 15 hours ago, with widespread reports of error code 8001050F - hardware failure for PS3 (non-Slim) consoles.  The Examiner.com reports that when contacting Sony they were assured a PS3 fix will arrive by morning, but for those who can't wait you may wish to give THIS FIX a try.
  • Teen pleads guilty of crashing Sony's PlayStation website - In 2008, a teenager was caught using a cheat mod in SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals, and so was consequently kicked out of the tourney. As an act of revenge, he crashed the PlayStation website for a full 11 days by hacking into the site's servers and sending a virus out. Now, the Latrobe, Pa. high school honors student has pled guilty to four felony charges: unlawful use of a computer, criminal use of a computer, computer trespassing and the distribution of a computer virus. He has yet to be sentenced; it will be coming out later this year.
  • ATI announces Modern Warfare 2 gamer pack - ATI has partnered with Activision to offer a copy of Modern Warfare 2 in the box with participating Radeon 5830 boards. As you know, Modern Warfare 2 is a $60 game, so this is a pretty nice bonus for gamers in the market for a Radeon 5830 who haven't picked up a copy of Modern Warfare 2 yet. ATI says they'll offer the Modern Warfare 2 Gamer Pack with other high-end GPUs going forward, so potentially this bundle will be offered on select Radeon 5850 and 5870 cards in the coming weeks and months.

Updated: PlayStation bug cripples "fat" PS3 models worldwide

Sony has posted a full update on the issues, it looks like it's a clock bug and will be fixed within 24 hours.

quote:

"We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.
Errors include:
* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
* When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the followingmessage appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”.
* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game.”
* When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”
* Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.
We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data."
