- First Borderland reviews - The
floodgates are opening on the Borderlands reviews - 1UP's Thierry Nguyen gives the
rpg-shooter a B+ rating. Another review can be found on Kotaku. There's no score as usual
for them but the text is very positive provided you are playing for the
coop. AI, a lack of minimap and walking are criticised. Finally, IGN has granted it an 8.8 out of
10. FYI, GameStop is pumping up the jam for the
release of Borderlands with the announcement that they will
be opening up over 1300 store locations for midnight launches
- Star Trek Online Coming Early 2010 - According to VideoGamer, Cryptic
has confirmed that their upcoming MMO, Star Trek Online, is scheduled
for a Q1 2010 releas
- Torchlight - Interview @ Crispy Gamer -There's
a two-part interview (#1, #2) with Runic's Travis Baldree,
Max Schaefer and Jason Beck at Crispy Gamer, discussing the imminent
Torchlight.
- Strike Fighters 2 Israel Ships - The
game is a stand-alone product and does not require Strike
Fighters 2 to play, but if you already have Strike Fighters 2, Strike
Fighters 2 Vietnam, Strike Fighters 2 Europe, the games are merged to

- Machinarium Demo - There's a
web-based three level playable demo of the

- The Dark Mod for Doom 3 Released - The
Dark MOD is a total conversion for Doom 3, turning it into a
dark and moody stealth game inspired by the Thief series by Looking
Glass Studios. Word is: "we have created a toolset with revamped
gameplay, AI, graphics, HUD and weapons to allow fans to create
missions in a gothic steampunk universe."
- Left For Dead Mod: Dismember the Alamo Released - Based
on the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, TX. This map is a 1:1 scale recreation of Lake
Creek movie theater. Built using SketchUp and Hammer, this
map includes many custom textures and models. Many of the custom
textures were taken from on-site photographs. Can you survive the Alamo
Drafthouse?
- Need For Speed: Nitro Goes Gold (Wii, DS) - EA
sent out a press release announcing that Need For Speed: Nitro for the
DS and Wii has gone gold and will be shipping on November 3rd in North
America and November 6th in Europe.
- Halo Waypoint Preview (Xbox 360) - Kotaku
has a preview of Halo Waypoint,
releasing November 5th for Silver and Gold XBL Members.
- EA: Core Business Model a 'Burning Platform' - EA
Sports president Peter Moore has painted a grim picture for the future
of disc-based videogames. Speaking at the 5th annual PLAY Digital Media
Conference during a panel about monetizing video games through
micro-transactions and subscription-based services, Moore stated the
core business model of shipping packaged gaming media as
a platform is "burning."
- First Assassin's Creed 2 live action short film
debuting next week - Venture Beat reports that the
first of three short films that will promote their upcoming stealth
action game Assassin's Creed 2 will appear on YouTube's front page in
eight different countries on October 27
