Well, how is everyone doing this lovely Monday afternoon/evening? I think that I'll probably spend most of the evening playing a bit of Codename Panzers Phase Two.

Windows Vista Build 5219 Unveiled at PDC Today - According to sources at pre-PDC sessions Microsoft will release build 5219 to attendees tomorrow. 5219.winmain_idx02.050824-2010 is the build tag so the build is a couple of weeks old.
Windows Vista Development Guidelines - Microsoft has released its preliminary Windows Vista user interface guidelines. It's a set of 12 rules for software developers to make use of to help encourage developers to create software for Windows Vista that have a consistent, polished look and feel.
RV530 Radeon X1600 will come in two flavours - The card that we used to call RV530 got its commercial name and will be called the Radeon X1600 and will come in two flavors. The faster version of its architecture will be called Radeon X1600 and will have twelve pipelines and work at a 600MHz plus clock. The clock speeds are being finalised as we speak, but this sounds like a very fast mainstream card to me.
Samsung to ship 16Gb Flash chip next year - Samsung will launch a 16Gb NAND Flash late next year, the company confirmed today. The part will provide 2GB of storage capacity in a single chip, which will be fabbed using 50nm process technology, Samsung said.
Sony expects Blu-Ray victory within 12 months - The recent delay to the roll-out of Toshiba's next-gen DVD standard, HD-DVD, has led a senior Sony Pictures executive to confidently predict that Sony's rival Blu-Ray standard will dominate the market within 12 months.
Sony Announces 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for less than $200 - At the end of September, Sony Electronics will offer Memory Stick media in 2GB capacities for about $200 or less. Both varieties of the 2GB capacity Memory Stick Pro are available for pre-sale at sonystyle.com, at will be available at Sony Style stores and authorized retailers nationwide.
Sony RDR-AX75 DVD HDD Recorder Records for Sony PSP - The Japanese Sony AV division has announced a new DVR series called RDR-AX75 that supports H.264 (AVC) video export to Memory Stick Duo Pro. On a 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, you can fit up to 2:20 hrs of video encoded at QVGA 768k.

Developer-induced euthanasia - Last month, we wrote about Turbine's intent to shut down its unpopular MMOG Asheron's Call 2, noting that the game's cancellation still came as a surprise to many fans. The Guardian's games blogger Aleks Krotoski dives into this shut-down by asking: "Where do level 60 avatars go when they die?"
ESRB Still Pissed About Hot Coffee - According to an official Entertainment Software Rating Board email obtained by Gamasutra, the ESRB has announced a toughening of its stance on hidden game content, following the recent controversy over Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The email, which has been sent to all major video game publishers, starts by noting: "Fully disclosing hidden content accessible as Easter eggs and via cheat codes has always been part of ESRB's explicitly stated requirements when submitting games to be rated. In the July 20 public announcement, which focused on the revocation of a specific game's rating assignment, we formally stated that any pertinent content shipped on the game disc that may be relevant to a rating must be disclosed to ESRB, even if it is not intended to ever be accessed during game play."
