To all my readers who celebrate Christmas, a very Merry Christmas to you, hopefully you will be enjoying this time of the year with your family and friends! I hope that Santa brings you everything you've asked for but above all else, good health, good wealth - and plenty of games! I'll be spending Christmas with my wife and little daughter, so updates will be limited.

New Stronghold 3 Maps - Steam News has details on a new automatic update for Stronghold 3, which will bring the strategy sim to version 1.7.25308. The new version includes a long list of changes and fixes, as well as four new maps.
A Smoother Skyrim For Christmas - It works mostly by rewriting some x87 FPU code and inlining a whole ton of useless getter functions along the critical paths because the developers at Bethesda, for some reason, compiled the game without using any of the optimization flags for release builds. To install the unofficial patch, first you’ll need to grab the Skyrim Script Extender (aka SKSE) from here and extract its contents into your main Skyrim directory. Then, grab the TESV Acceleration Layer from here and dump the DLL file within into [your Skyrim folder]/Data/SKSE/Plugins, creating the latter two directories if necessary. Then, launch the game by running skse_loader.exe from the Skyrim root folder.

RIFT database hacked - Trion Worlds announced that its RIFT account database has been hacked, and private information such as: user names, passwords, birth dates, billing and email addresses, along with the first and last four digits of stored credit card information could have been compromised.
SCEA announces Vita launch titles, details starter kit - SCEA's director of hardware marketing, John Koller, has posted an updated list of titles which will be released when PS Vita launches in the US and Canada on February 22. According to the listing, there will be 25 games available on day one, and over 100 games are currently in development for the platform with pricing ranging from $9.99-$49.99 through retail and PSN.
