God i hated this game returned it asap , i find driving a slow ass car 20mins each way is boring. Plus the slow frame rate on some good systems is bollox. One of the reasons i hated morrowind walk..walk..walk..walk..... this game is drive... drive...drive..drive fail reload at the start of the mission and bloody drive again

The truth of when it comes down is stun the phasering part of it so that when you bring it to me it sounds as if it has but the graphics are well indicated to sign the small part of the cognated celebral injunction.

To : He-Man yes, the race mission is hard, but if you do the following Ram into the red car on the first lap at the first corner dont press the acceleration button on the corners as this will spin the car this isnt guarenteed to work first time, but a few attempts should do it. I found it impossible, but it takes a lot of attempts of familirise yourself with the car. Trial & error. Practice makes perfect. however, if you feel that you cant complete this then you could download a saved game file of mafia after race from http://come.to/lunarist but its down at the moment (at time of post) Hope this helps

I'm loving this game! Best single player I've played in a long time. The storyline is interesting, the missions (except for the first couple) have all been above average. Only drawback I see is that you really do need a pretty high-end system to run this game at full glory.

Top game! atmospheric, varied.. i was hooked till i finished it... those that complain of slow cars are impatient. The cars improve, but i guess you will never know "BloodUK" coz you sent it back! The race is a bit of a bitch, i had to dig out my joystick to complete that level...using keys just too difficult to be fun. BUY IT!

Guys GUYS GUYZZZZZZZZ, it has no multiplayer feature and as soon as youve clocked it you'll dump it ! Nowadays a majority of BLOCKBUSTER PC GAMES come with the multiplayer FEATURE and this game would have been better if it had this option. However lazy lame ass programmers who cant be arsed to program multi player features shouldnt expect reasonable sales of the game, even if they are selling the game with the WORD MAFIA what next ALQADEA ?

a friend of mine told me that u never see a game where you play a character and who saves people from burning homes, rescues them from mountains, gives shelter to the beggars and resolve war in the world and there are no borders or boundaries without the need for security agencies and defence as we are all 1 human race and bring peace to the world ! my reply was games are not meant to be enjoyed or bring about a utopian experience or even political, they just waste ur friggin TIME & MONEY !!! but i like it : )

Best single player game I have played this year. Graphics are jaw dropping. Story is compeling. I was hooked for 2 days straight before I finished it. One hour into this game, I unistalled GTA from my machine and gave the game away. How can anyone want to play a console crap port like GTA after playing this masterpiece.

Great graphics, great sound, music is a tad annoying. The gameplay is stellar. (aside from the god-awful race mission) Oh yeah, to whomever was whining about the slow cars, period clothes etc: did you not look at the back of the box? It's set in the 30's what did you expect?

absolutely INCREDIBLE GOTY. I have completed it, and the storyline and missions are the best I have ever played. Its SOOOOOOOOOO much more atmospheric an involving than GTA3 ever was. BUY NOW!!!!!!!!! Gamespot gave it GOTY as well and they arent wrong, it really blew me away, best single player game this year for sure.

Yeah, there's naked people.... When you first start the game, at the title menu (the 3-d room with the picstures and typewriter, car keys, etc... look at the wall behind the desk, there are like 3 pin-ups and one of them is a naked chick :)

Anyone had any luck with the Free-ride Extreme option (unlocked later)? And any ideas on how to get "all" cars unlocked, I like the fast ones. Only have two cars so far and they're both next to useless, an armour plated car and the "Crazy Horse" gotten from those pale white guys with flayling arms.

in regard to the race mission, its a piece of cake once youve got used to the cars (interesting) handling traits. i did it after 3 or 4 try's. i cant play GTA3 anymore, its more than not in the same league as mafia, . the depth of game-play is so immersive, 11 out of 10!!!! ps, does anyone know any cheats? the later missions are a bitch, and i need more guns!!!

I've just finished this game. It's Awsome. Very great game. Don't do it with "cheats", and you can find the full exicement of this game. although i have to try about 20 times to finish the race. Love it! Although the slow car (taxi) at the begining was annoying. It was so fun after that! And I am only using a very low end P3 600 with a TNT2 card. Gee.. still having fun on 800x600 mode.

The is a really easy way to win the race, about 1/3 through the first lap there is a concrete barrier squeeze into the side of that (u will need to slow down drive to the other end of that road and theres a dunnial sign halfway, there's another one at the end, and a line going across that road, pass that line and hit the 0(INS) key or what ever u set reset car to, and you will respawn just before the start line cross it to finish the lap, rinse lather and repeat :D

ahhh, finished it nad trying to play the stupud extreeme free ride.....some of the missions can be difficult, especially when they dont tell you where to go and you just have to figure it out. one more thing: when a pedesterian is in front of your car you cannot drive over him, i mean, hey, a guy walking can stop a car from moving? i prefere gta3

This is the epitome of gaming bliss. GTA3 cannot compare to Mafia's single player mode. Not only was it in development before GTA3 was released, the overall LS3D engine is far superior than the GTA3 or Vice City will ever be!

They ARE makin a Multiplay Feature on the first patch they release so the game will have a shit load more playablity even if u do finish it in 3 days like me.. + it is NO way a cheap copy of GTA3 cos it actually has a compelling an realistic story line! i really enjoyed mafia a good game yes there is room for improvment like the freeride extreme once completed should give you clues like the car that becomes invisible,the reason for the cave and the door that doesnt seem to open,why its posible to walk throw the gates in all modes by the glass man mission etc hopefully in mafia two ther will be more help?

frustrating and brilliant... that is how i found mafia. yes, that race is a bitch. 40 tries and i gave up - resorted to downloading savegames. does anyone know how to configure the mouse x-axis for turning that dumb car? also, the limited save feature is lousy. in the bldg when you go to collect booze, you have to skip a cutscene, climb up two floors, skip another cut scene, fight, die, repeat the whole thing again and again! bloody hell! and the docks is another lousy place - one mistake and it is back to the start of the docks!! gimme a break! and hey, gimme the cheat codes!!

Great game! Sometimes it sucks...when you have bee'n driving some 15 minutes, and suddenly you crash or get the cops after you so u have to start all over. A "save game" function would be nice...Also, the cops' cars just go faster and faster the faster car you have, almost til the end..baaad

Gta is not alike mafia. mafia is allot better in many ways. the view is much better wich is in gta 3 all dark en vice city is also a bit blury is u copare it to mafia. ive completed mafi allready 2 times it still is a great game. nice log story with no lame missions. i just hevent been able to complete the freeride extreme, but ill get there ;) so any of u gays want a savegame feel free to ask.

Mafia rocks, it's better than GTAIII and it's not a cheap rip-off. Anyone who's stuck on the race - smash the european bloke up in the beginning and the rest is textbook. Just one thing though - my game has been recently freezing for no reason at all, very annoying, and I wondered if anyone else had this problem?

this is a very good game once you get past its flaws. and i believe the low frame rates are down to a limiter built in. i get exactly the same frame rates with max detail from 1024x768 all the way to 1600x1200. the country side runs much more smooth, but i would want the cite to run smoother, and some may say i have a top of the line PC. any 1 know how to turn this limiter off ??

Mafia is a great game. I don't think multiplayer would have done very well, because 12 miles of simulated city is just too big a 'game map' to run around in multiplayer with. For those whining, I found GTA3 to be "ok" but it was a pretty bug-filled port from the PS2. GTA Vice City on PC actually is up there with the likes of Mafia. As for Mafia, does anyone even know, Mafia was in production LONG before GTA3 was? Before Rockstar Games took old GTA and turned it from 2d to 3d, Mafia was in the works, with all the car jacking and blatant killing. GTA3, actually is considered a 'more modern day game' that was ripped from Mafia. Whatever GTA3 has, was taken largely from Mafia. I hate GTA3 but I loved Vice City! And I refuse to play the new GTA San Andreas. I'm not playing as some baggy pants wearing crack head. Gangs get enough 'glory' and glamorizing in the media and with crap-rap music, as it is. I dont wanna play the part of a black excon/rapist (but the skin color of the guy in GTA San Andreas is accurate - black LOL).

i think mafia is one of the best first person shooters i have ever played.It delivers what the gamer is looking for in an action game set in the 1930's.

The game is nice but i am stuck in "You lucky bastard - the harbor." i killed everybody in the harbor but i dont know how to get in the building that sergio is in. Does thishave to do something about the grenades? I NEED HELP!!!!!

Lot's of people complain about the slow cars, but actually you'll get some really fast cars in the end. The game is far from gta3. In gta u just drive somewhere and kill someone. Here you have really different missions and a cool story. And the racing track was easy since u can take a shortcut.

BIG BOY GAME...THE STORY LINE IS GREAT...PISSES ALL OVER GTA's STORYLINE WHICH WAS BORING AND NEVA REALLI KEPT ME INTERESTED...I THINK THE MUSIC ADDS THE CLASSICAL EFFECT TO IT...I MEAN COME ON U DONT EXPECT TO HEAR SUM DR DRE COME ON IN THE BACKGROUND ¬_¬....all in all a good game 9/10 for me. by the way GTA has great gameplay but its story line is weak.

I'm playin it right now!I love that teh balance between reality and gamejoy is perfect. Graphix is really nice too. Nice effect and antialiasing. Lots of people complain about some driver error. U should try to install an "indeo" driver(search the net; the driver is free). PS: Don't use fuckin cheats!!!!
