Electronic Arts has released the first patch (local US mirror ~ 16.7MB) for The Lord of the Rings: the Battle for Middle-Earth, bringing their fantasy 3D real-time strategy game to version 1.01. Thee patch adds three new multiplayer maps titled Northern Ithilien, Black Gate and Eaves of Fangorn, as well as addressing all known online cheats and exploits , a few balance issues (Drummer Troll now recharges health when it reaches level 2, The damage radius for the Mordor Catapult's skull upgrade has been increased), networking and other bugs, and adding a new Communicator feature - By hitting Ctrl+Enter anywhere in the Online Menu, even in an online match, you can bring up the new communicator. This utility will let you add, remove, and chat with users that you choose to make your friends. Another mirrors: EA FTP, 3DGamers, WP.
