Logitech Announces New Gaming Mouse - tech
(hx) 11:20 AM CEST - Jun,15 2012 - Post a comment / read (9)
Logitech is today expanding on its gaming peripheral offerings with the announcement of its G600 MMO Gaming Mouse, the latest addition to the company's G-Series line. The mouse has been specifically engineered for use with MMO titles, says Logitech, and features a total of 20 programmable buttons. 12 of those are located on the device's thumb panel (complete with customizable RGB illumination), which is split into two sets of six buttons for "no-look navigation." Three user configuration profiles - two geared towards MMO with the other provided for more general gaming - are stored on the mouse's internal memory, letting users take their preferred settings between different gaming rigs. To help complement its 8200dpi laser sensor, Logitech claims the G600 exhibits a 1 millisecond USB report rate that should make lag a non-issue. Further, it says the device's build was designed with ergonomics in mind to support your hand "through hours of raiding." Priced at $79.99, the G600 is available for preorder now in both black and white color schemes, It's compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

HOLY SHIT...

I've got quite a few Logi mice g5/g7or8/g700 and all are fairly nice. The MX518 optical was a true performer on the cheap too that I own. I'm not sure about this as I haven't needed more than three or four buttons for macro sets.

Hahaha what a F'ing ugly mouse. I detest those buttons too. You want a great gaming mouse? I freaking love mine.

You own one of those hideous RAT mice and you say the Logitech is ugly? CAUTION: Falling Glass

Ya mine doesn't have this big block of bs macro crap buttons on the side that looks hideous.. Mine can be altered in any/every way. Mine can be made wider, longer, heavier, lighter not to mention a crazy amount of DPI settings. Nothing even comes close to my mouse. My mouse is damn attractive compared to that hunk of shit from Logitech.

I have used only Logitech mouses in the past - I loved them for quality and functionality.
But the buttons on this one seem highly disfunctional; you need your thumb to hold the mouse. To press any one of these side buttons you sacrifice a secure hold on the mouse - something a gamer would never do. These buttons should have been on top.
Logitech is going to the wrong direction.
I sent them tons of comments in the past (how they should be improving their products) but they did not do any of those suggestions. I don't understand why they're not doing any of it. I find it hard to believe that I am the only one interested in those things...
Anyway, it's not my problem. Their quality has been constantly declining over the past decade and their support has terrible. My next mouse won't be Logitech, that's a decided fact already.
And then they wonder why their market share is declining, lol...

I've seen the rat mouse and it's interesting. I've usually relied on my cheap trusty mx518 optical for everything. I own three different G series mice and two g15's (older model with the flip up screen and the newer orange one). Mechanical would be nice but it's not worth the premium atm. The Logitech stuff can usually be had open box or some other discount making it worth a buy.

The buttons on the side seem hard to use that I'll agree on. The G700 has four on the side and three up by the left mouse button that can easily be hit with the index finger. I'm not sure why they didn't do something similar to that. The ones on the side where the thumb is are hard to use effectively.

Still using my DeathAdder 3G (Avago ADNS-S3668) which is basically perfect. Perfectly fits the palm of my hand and has been serving me for a few years already.

@Baconnaise

It's a great mouse, you can change it's shape. Make it wider, longer, add/remove weights, the bottom is metal so it's easy to clean and easy to clean the mouse period. I can even swap in other parts to change it's appearance. Also the tracking is fantastic. I use it for photoshop and gaming and it's been damn perfect. The software is way smaller than Logitech bloatware crap. Logitech has honestly turned into garbage the last couple of years. I've been devoted to Logitech for the past 10 years too. That's gotta mean something.

@Tom

You're giving me flashbacks of having to constantly clean my trackballs. How does lint and other dirt manage to get stringy enough to wrap around those little things anyways? It was like a gold trophy if you got it off in one piece.

The price isn't extreme on the rat mouse. Issue I have with the price/performance is I can't try it to get a feel for it. Mechanical keyboards are the same as I can't see first hand which type of keys are better for me. I'll keep it in mind though and might even splurge a little and take that risk. I've got my office locked up like Fort Knox now so something like the rat won't lose pieces to children.
