Lifelike zombie battles in Possession - briefly
(hx) 01:52 PM CEST - Oct,03 2005 - Post a comment / read (5)
Volatile Games today announced the use of endorphin 2.5 (check out this movie ~ 5.1MB WMV) in its spectacular next generation zombie action-thriller Possession (PC, PS3, Xbox 360).
endorphin 2.5, developed by Oxford-based NaturalMotion, is the newest version of the company's award-winning 3D character animation software. The software uses Artificial Intelligence to create 3D character animation in real time. In addition, version 2.5 allows powerful new transitioning, blending and behaviour features, combined with enhancements to asset repurposing tools and improved FBX support, allow animators to create realistic, fully interactive 3D character animation faster and easier than traditional keyframe or motion capture techniques.

Possession is being developed for the forthcoming next generation consoles, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game allows the player to take the role of The Enslaver, a former good guy transformed into an evil, twisted killing machine, who leads a horde of hundreds of zombies on a mission to lay waste to an enormous, thriving city.

In addition to controlling vast hordes of humans and zombies in single-player games, Possession will also feature an online, multiplayer mode where one player faces up to seven others in a bloody contest of wits, tactics and survival against The Enslaver and his massive zombie army. endorphin plays a vital part in the creating of 'lifelike' battles between zombies and humans, especially as next-generation consoles will allow Volatile Games to create ever more complex sequences.

Zombies, snore. Zombies that look the same..note various of the zombies are clones of each other. And where do those shots come from? PC or Console. I hate that. You get excited over the gfx and find out it's console. Be nice to see CONSOLE written on the pics.

despite my positive feeling that PC will get better after seeing the Call of Duty 2 single player demo, I think this is console.

I notice you're quite ambivalent in your thinking about PC vs Console topic.
You support consoles but are disappointed that a game is developed for a console... You shout about console superiority, but play PC games... hm.
I understand my remark doesn't fit into current topic, but I hope HX will excuse me.
So what were you saying? No good games for PC left? How do you explain your excitement on COD2 or FEAR then? Just wanted to know, in case you're able to explain the controversy in your statements.

Thanks for the kind offer of letting me moan and shamble about eating human flesh; no one's offered in *ages*.

Still, I prefer to kill the zombies. I liked the aliens levels of AvP2 well enough, but it's much more thrilling to survive the monsters than to be one.
