While 2003's Black Hawk Down contained some fun multiplayer modes, there was a good deal of criticism directed at the NovaWorld service and its archaic HTML-based server browser. NovaLogic has apparently realized the folly of their ways and, while NovaWorld will still be the only way to play Joint Operations online (it's a free service), NovaLogic is taking all sorts of steps to improve the service and build their community. Aside from an improved in-game browser, NovaLogic is looking to add improved stats and rankings to the official website, conduct tournaments and release editing tools alongside Joint Ops. Community-created content can be uploaded through the NovaXchange service, and internal NovaLogic employees will reportedly be manning the mods-and-maps sections of the forums to help out would-be content creators.
