- Post a comment In the next weeks we expect the release of Avernum 2 for the PC. Avernum 2 is a shareware RPG being developed by Spiderweb Software. RPGDot talked to Jeff Vogel, founder and president of Spiderweb and the creator of Avernum 2. Avernum 2 is the successor to Avernum and is being released for the MAC (already available) and the PC (scheduled for the end of March). The game is a classic fantasy RPG, with 16 bits 3D graphics and a huge storyline, leading you through the prison, which Avernum is. It is an enormous warren of tunnels and caverns, far below the surface world, to wher you are banished by the cruel Empire, to spend the rest of your life in the underworld. At first, it seemed like you and your many fellow prisoners might be able to form a nation and live in peace, far from the sun.
RPGDot: Avernum 2 has three major quests. Do they all have to be completed in order to end the game? And if not, do they lead to different endings?
Jeff: There are basically three parallel games, and you can play through one or two or all three. It's a neat system. if you don't have a huge amount of free time to play the game, you can just do one major quest. if you're really into it, though, you can do all 3 and experience a huge amount of gameplay.
