One of the things that makes Children of the Nile different than other city sims is the emphasis on the individual citizens. Usually in these games you deal with the entire populations, but Tilted Mill has also given you a way to observe and influence the life of individuals or a single family in the game. You can actually target one person and watch as he or she goes through life in the game, whether farming grain in the banks of the Nile or carrying the Pharaoh around. The citizens even talk to themselves or to each other (in English, oddly enough) commenting on their lives. Our beta build of the game came with three different scenarios for the player to accomplish, from taking a ship and circumnavigating Africa to building a pyramid. In fact, you can actually have your Pharaoh die while building monuments to him and then continue those projects while playing your own successor. Of course, you also have to deal with natural disasters, negotiating with other cities and towns and more challenges.
